I consider it to be my honour to deliver this speech on such a momentous occasion. The 15th of August, for us Indians, is a no ordinary day. On this very day, in the year 1947, India earned her hard-earned independence from the tyranny of the British rule. Every year since, this day is recognized as India’s Independence day. Wikipedia, in fact, states as follows: “Independence Day is celebrated annually on On this very day, colonialism and imperialism that shackled India were broken free by our fierce and patriotic freedom fighters. Be it Gandhi, Tilak, or Bose, each one of them had a crucial role in India attaining her freedom and being the way we know her to be. We are only able to breathe in the fresh air of freedom thanks to their valiant efforts. Good morning to everyone in this room. We’re all gathered here today to talk about a significant issue that has received a lot of attention recently as a result of the adjustments the government has made i.e. Article 370. All kings were given the freedom to dwell anywhere they chose in 1947, as the British were leaving India. With the exception of the province of J&K, the unification was accomplished because of VallabhBhai Patel’s efforts. It wanted to keep its independence and did not want to unite. Hari Singh, the ruler of Kashmir at the time, asked India for assistance when Pakistan tried to take Kashmir by force in 1947. Then Kashmir joined India, although they were given a special status under Articles 370 and 35A to maintain its unique status.
