The 2022 edition of the Asia Cup cricket tournament is scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka next month. This year the competition will be played in the T20 format. According to multiple reports, record-champions India are scheduled to take on Pakistan on August 28. It will be the first meeting between the arch-rivals since the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 group stage match. It will be the first time since Pakistan’s historic win over India in the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup that the two teams will line-up against each other. Pakistan ended their World Cup winless streak against India last year, defeating Virat Kohli and Co. by 10 wickets at the Dubai International Stadium. The teams are set to face-off with each other once more at the World T20 this year, when they will battle at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 23. But before that, the Asia Cup T20 match will give India another chance to test their preparations against the Men in Green and also take revenge for last year’s defeat.

Rohit Sharma-led India will be looking to get their campaign off to a winning start when they lock horns with arch-rivals Pakistan in their opener of the Asia Cup 2022 on Sunday (August 28). It will be India's first meeting with Pakistan in ten months having suffered a disappointing ten-wicket loss against Babar Azam & Co. in the T20 World Cup last year. The marquee clash against Pakistan will also mark the return of senior batter Virat Kohli, who was on a break from cricket post the conclusion of India's tour of England last month.
