Draupadi Murmu Biography Draupadi Murmu is the 15th and current President of India. She is also the former cabinet minister of Odisha and the former governor of Jharkhand. She was born into a humble family based in a remote village of Mayurbhanj, a tribal district of Odisha, Murmu had worked as an assistant teacher and a junior assistant in Odisha state irrigation department. A plea signed by numerous academicians, professionals, researchers, students, alumni and concerned citizens has been submitted to the President of India, Draupadi Murmu, imploring her to take action against Vice-Chancellor, Bidyut Chakrabarty of Visva-Bharati University (VBU) for the continuous defamation of Professor Amartya Sen and other professors and students of VBU. During her stay in the city, she would meet the leaders and elected representatives of AIADMK-led alliance partners, including the PMK, the BJP, and the TMC, at a hotel in the city.
