Zimbabwe vs Afghanistan 2022 tour will run from 12 to 27 June 2022. The teams will play 3 ODI matches and 5 Twenty20 International matches. ODI matches of Zimbabwe vs Afghanistan will take place in Harare Sports Club, Harare from 12 to 17 June 2022. Zimbabwe vs Afghanistan T20I series will take place from 20 to 27 June at the same venue as of ODI matches. Afghanistan was slated to play five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches in Zimbabwe in July and August 2020, assuming lockdown restrictions were eased due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tour did not fall under the Future Tours umbrella. After completing COVID-19 exams, the Zimbabwe cricket team began training in June 2020. Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) obtained government approval for the tour on July 20, 2020, with a ZC spokeswoman noting that Afghanistan was still committed to touring. The trip was cancelled on August 8, 2020, due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in Zimbabwe. In April 2022, the rescheduled dates for the tour were confirmed.

The visitors had a big total on the board and they just needed to have control with the ball up front and that is exactly what their pacers gave them. Both Fazalhaq Farooqi and Fareed Ahmad pitched the ball a lot further up and troubled the opposition with some swing. Afghanistan didn't get more than one wicket for a long time but the introduction of Mohammad Nabi completely changed the match and after he got a wicket off his first delivery, Nabi just didn't look back. Nabi ended up with four wickets and Rashid Khan as usual chipped in with a couple of wickets including that of Sikandar Raza at a crucial stage in the game. Apart from Mujeeb, all the other bowlers had a good outing. In the end, it was a brilliant all-round performance from the visitors to seal the game. Earlier in the game, Afghanistan were put in to bat and after a difficult start, captain and vice-captain, Hashmatullah Shahidi and Rahmat Shah put on a stellar partnership of 181 runs to lay down the platform and it was Rashid Khan who made full use of it at the death to propel his side to a big score of 276! It was Blessing Muzarabani who took a four-fer and just pulled back things a bit for the hosts. On a pitch that had quite a lot for the bowlers, this was always going to be a difficult chase and Zimbabwe didn't help their cause by losing wickets at regular intervals. Afghanistan will be up against Zimbabwe in the second game of a three-match T20I series at Harare Sports Club on Sunday. The Mohammad Nabi-led side won the first match by 6 wickets on Saturday to go 1-0 up. For the hosts, apart from all-rounder Sikandar Raza, no other player has impressed with their performance in the white-ball series up till now. In the bowling as well, their bowlers failed to control the Afghan batters, who easily chased down the target of 160 runs for the loss of four wickets in 19.2 overs. Star pacer Blessing Muzarabani was taken to the cleaners by the Afghans as he conceded 55 runs in 3.2 overs. He would like to bounce back in the second game and come up with a better display.
