Air Traffic Controller Salary in India

Air Traffic Control is one of the most stressful jobs in the world. The ATCOs (ATC Officers) who work in a team ensures that aircraft reach their destination safely and with the least possible delay. But “ safety” does not happen by accident, it requires dedicated efforts of the controllers who work round the clock to ensure that aircraft are well separated in the air as well as on the ground. Considering this highly responsible and strenuous job, it is imperative that ATCOs should be well paid to compensate for the stress, shift duties, and affected social life. • • In this article, I will try to present a basic idea of an Air Traffic Controller’s salary in India. Airport Authority of India (AAI) inducts ATCOs on the post of Junior Executive (Air Traffic Control) or simply calls JE (ATC). First, let’s see what different designations & associated pay scales (which form the basis of the total salary) of ATCOs in AAI. A tabular form will be good enough to represent this hierarchy which starts with Junior Executive (ATC): *ATM: Air Traffic Management. Hindon Airport is a Civil Enclave in Ghaziabad Distt. ofUttar Pradesh, operated by the Airports Authority of India at Hindan Air Force Station.It is the second commercial airport in the Delhi NCR which is around 24km from New Delhi Railway Station connected by Major Mohit Sharma Rajender Nagar Metro Station of Ghaziabad, after Indira Gandhi International Airport,Delhi. Thisairport was primarily built to handle domestic flights operating under the Government's Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS). Since Feb 2019, there are two regional flights operating everyday from thisairport to Hubli and Kalaburgi. This Civil Enclave, Hindon is built in22050 sqm land area nearSikandarpur village in Sahibabad, adjacent to the IAF airbase. The terminal building is a pre-engineered, air-conditioned structure with eight check-in counters and two conveyor belt. The terminal buildinghas a capacity of serving 300 PAXin an hour. The Car park can accommodate 90 cars. Air traffic control is being provided by the Indian Air Force. The C.E.Hindon has been developed and managed by AAIalso cater to the need of VIP and Non-scheduled flight movement.. Presently3 more RCS routes are also awarded for opeartion from C.E.Hindon to Pithoragarh by Spicejet, to Ludhiana & Bhatinda byBig Charter Pvt. Ltd. As C.E Hindon is located very close to national capital Delhi,suitsmany of the Scheduled and Non-Schedule operators who could not get slot allocation at IGI,Delhi.

(A) Operators are to forward a formal proposal to MoD at least three months prior to the proposed date of commencement of flightsto the address given below. The proposal should contain the following information:- • Name of the defence aerodrome/s from which schedule operations are proposed. • Proposed date/month of operations. • Type of aircraft. • Proposed schedule, if available. • Details of foreign pilots/crew, if employed. (B) The proposal should be addressed to, • Director (Air-I) • Ministry of Defence • Air Head Quarters (VB) • Rafi Marg • New Delhi - 110 011 • Telephone: 23011872 • Fax no.: 23016304 A copy of the proposal should also be addressed to Director Operation (Air Traffic Services), Air Head Quarters (VB), Rafi Marg, New Delhi 110 011. (c) After processing the proposal the final NOC will be issued by the Ministry of Defence. Procedure for obtaining approval of the schedule i.e. days and timings of the flight. If the schedule is not forwarded with the initial proposal the same may be forwarded at least 15 days prior to the commencement of the flight directly to D Ops (ATS), Air Headquarters (Vayu Bhavan) New Delhi-110 011.
