Now the telco is all set to launch its 5G services in the near future. The 5G auctions in India haven't begun yet, however, we already know a handful of details regarding Airtel's 5G services. Airtel 5G Service Expected Launch Date The 5G network auction in India hasn't been conducted yet. The Department Of Telecom has recently revealed that the first auction will take place for over 72GHz of the spectrum. Airtel has already confirmed that its network is 5G ready. New Delhi, August 03, 2022: Bharti Airtel (Airtel), India's premier communications solutions provider, today announced that it has signed 5G network agreements with Ericsson, Nokia and Samsung to commence 5G deployment in August 2022. Airtel has had a long-standing relationship for connectivity and Pan-India managed services with Ericsson and Nokia while the partnership with Samsung will begin this year onwards. Dubbed Airtel 5G Plus, the telco has deployed its non-standalone (NSA) fifth-generation network in over 265 cities. It's also the first mobile operator to make 5G available for commercial use for everyone. Which means, all Airtel users can access the 5G connectivity once they are in the 5G network area. Unlike Jio which is offering 5G connectivity on an invitational basis. As for the Airtel 5G enabled cities, the telco recently announced the launch of 5G services in 125 cities. With this the tally of cities with Airtel 5G Plus network has reached over 265. While the full list of cities were not released with the announcement, Airtel did share that it has reached all the States and UTs with its network. Dubbed Airtel 5G Plus, the telecom operator is offering 5G in eight cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Siliguri, Varanasi, and Nagpur. Airtel users who have a 5G-enabled smartphone will be able to use the latest network on their existing data plans until the rollout is completed. Airtel has announced that it plans to offer 5G service in all major metro cities in India by March 2023. Airtel customers can check for the availability of 5G network through the company's Airtel Thanks App. Though, users will automatically be notified through the app if their smartphone is 5G- ready.
