India has one of the best airfare regimes; there should be no 'gouging': Akasa Air CEO

India has one of the best airfare regimes in the world, but there should not be “gouging” in terms of ticket prices to take advantage of a particular situation, according to His comments come against the backdrop of concerns about a steep rise in airfares in certain routes amid capacity reduction due to the Go First crisis and higher travel demand, and the government asking airlines to devise a mechanism to ensure a reasonable ticket pricing system. “Gouging is what the government is worried about… as an airline fraternity, we should ensure that there is no gouging,” Dube told PTI in an interview in Istanbul. He explained that gouging is a particular term used when anybody really jacks up the price of something to take advantage of a particular micro-environmental situation. “Gouging is just not a good thing. The airfares on an average in India are the most customer friendly in the world in any kind of sizeable aviation economy. The Indian consumer average has one of the best airfare regimes you can find anywhere in the world. That is a fact and we have some of the cheapest average fares anywhere in the world,” he pointed out. On June 5, the ministry asked airlines to devise a mechanism to ensure reasonable airfares amid a surge in air ticket prices, particularly on certain routes that were earlier served by Go First. Airlines have been asked to self-monitor airfares on routes that have seen a considerable rise in ticket prices and also to devise a mechanism to ensure reas...

Review: Akasa Air A++ Cabin (flying between Mumbai and Delhi)

Akasa Air, the new Indian airline founded by ex-Jet Airways management members, Booking Process I tried booking the ticket via Akasa’s website first. However, it kept going into a timeout loop or something. So, I eventually booked the ticket via an online travel agent. After booking the ticket, I pulled up my PNR on the Akasa app. I knew that Akasa was Check-in Experience Apart from giving Akasa a go, one of my other reasons to book this flight was to escape the chaos at the bigger Terminal 2 (if it existed). Akasa operates from Terminal 1 in Mumbai, which is closer to me. Since I’d not flown out of Terminal 1 for a longest time, I also wanted to check it out otherwise. So, I arrived at 11:00 am for a 1:25 pm departure from the terminal. It was a quick entry into the terminal with hardly any crowd at gate 2. Akasa has taken the rightmost bank of counters, which is closest to the Terminal 1C stairs. I was not flying with any check-in bags, but I wanted to get a hard copy of the boarding pass, so I decided to join the queue. Akasa’s ground handling is done by the Bird across the country (or at least Mumbai, Delhi, and Ahmedabad, where I’ve seen them so far). People were managing the (solitary) queue, ensuring you’d be directed to the next available check-in counter. In about 3 minutes, I was in the front of the line and at a counter. I noticed that the Priority counter was also being used as a generic check-in counter, making me wonder what would be the point of paying for t...

Akasa Air Customer Reviews

✅ Trip Verified | They cancelled my flight on 27 May 2023 and didn't inform me at all. When I reached Ahmedabad airport they didn't allow me to check in. Then they told me about cancellation of my flight. They offered me a flight the next day. I asked for accommodation and meal along with the compensation in accordance with CAR, section 3, Series M, Part IV of DGCA rule and regulations, but they denied to give, they only offered compensation within 7 days. I had to return in 45 degree hot temperature of Ahmedabad towards 2 hour journey to hotel which cost me 2500 per day and 1000 cab fare. All my plans were cancelled due to this. Today it is 06 June 2023 but still I haven't received my compensation. Flight Review: My First Akasa Air Experience Onboard Goa to Delhi Boeing 737 MAX Plane

Starting a new airline is a no small feat, starting a new airline in India is even tougher and starting a successful pan-India airline takes another level of grit. Well, that’s what I thought about the Akasa Air, soon after taking my first ever flight aboard an Akasa plane from the Manohar International Airport in Goa to Delhi. Akasa Air was started back in August 2022 by a group of aviation veterans, backed by Late Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. Having covered the developments of Akasa from the get-go, I knew something special was brewing in the India’s aviation industry, as Akasa was not just a new airline. Nevertheless, my curious travel experience started the moment I set my foot on the new Goa Airport, and ended at least a few hours after I reached my home, thinking how far along our aviation industry has come. While the Mopa airport did leave a big impact on me, I will try to be as objective as possible while talking about my first Akasa flight. Here’s our GOX-DEL Akasa Air Flight review. The Plane Akasa Air, before its formal launch, announced a massive deal with Boeing Co, ordering 72 Boeing 737-8 MAX aircrafts putting everyone to surprise. To the uninitiated, the same aircrafts were involved in two deadly crashes in 2018 and 2019, resulting in aviation agencies across the globe to ground these planes. However, in 2021, various countries lifted the ban on the MAX aircraft after Boeing fixed the issue, including India. Also, it’s some sort of ground rule by domestic airlines ...
