On-Campus Housing Algonquin College owns a student residence on the Ottawa campus. The residence has 525 two-bedroom suites, each with a shared bathroom and kitchenette with dining area. Barrier-free suites are also available. Off-Campus Housing We’ve partnered with Places4Students to give students free access to local housing listings. Places4Students provides a real-time student housing database to over 160 campuses across North America, complete with descriptive listings, photos, contact information, and property features. The average rent in Ottawa is $1200 – $1400 per month + utilities + groceries + living expenses. Please note that the Students’ Association does not inspect rental units or screen potential landlords. Algonquin College was established in 1967 and was named after the First Nations people who lived in the area. Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology was established in 1967 and was named after the First Nations people who lived in the area. Algonquin was formed from the merger of the Eastern Ontario Institute of Technology, established 1957, and the Ontario Vocational Centre, established 1965. The College celebrates 51 years as a leader in post-secondary education and has undergone significant growth since its establishment and continues to grow today.
