After a video of a teacher offering namaz at Sri Varshney college in Aligarh went viral, BJP Yuva Morcha leaders led by Amit Goswami, vice president of the Morcha’s Mahanagar unit, reached Sri Varshney College in Aligarh on Friday, May 27. Responding to the incident, the college principal said that a committee will be formed and an inquiry will be conducted. Providing details of the situation, the principal of Varshney College, Professor Anil Kumar Gupta said, "As far as this matter is concerned, I have returned from Prayagraj on the 28th morning and I called my acting principal and inquired about the matter. I will constitute a committee in this regard and on the basis of its report, whatever is there, further action will be taken. I would definitely like to assure that in the future, if any such religious activities create controversy, then no such work will be allowed to be done in the courtyard". The deceased has been identified as Safdar Ali, a retired doctor. Safdar Ali was out on a morning walk in a garden at Sir Syed Museum when the dogs attacked him. The incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed in the area. Police received the information about a body lying in the park around 7:30 am. The incident happened in the civil lines area of the AMU campus around 6:30 am. In the video, which went viral on social media, it can be seen that several dogs surrounded the victim and mauled him in a vicious manner, leaving him with multiple bite marks and severe injuries. SP City Kuldeep Singh Gunawat said that a police team rushed to the spot but by then the victim had died. “The body has been sent for post-mortem and further action will follow,” he added.
