According to (Opens in a new window), Amazon is in talkswith US carriers—including Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T and Dish Network—to offer the wireless plans, which could cost $10 per month for Prime subscribers, or even be free. Talks have been going on for six to eight weeks, with Amazon trying to secure the lowest possible wholesale price for resale to consumers. However, it could take several months for the e-commerce company to launch the cellular service, which could also be scrapped if the talks fall through, according to Bloomberg, citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter. But that means you'd be paying $33 more each year, with no additional benefits. The only way that makes sense is if you intend to subscribe for eight months or less—there's no contract, so you can quit at any time—or you just can't handle the one-time charge. As for the Prime video-only offer, it doesn't make much sense, either. At $9 per month, it's cheaper than Netflix's popular $10-per-month plan, but it's still more expensive than a $99 annual membership to Prime.
