PHILADELPHIA – Temple men's basketball has been selected to finish eighth in the American Athletic conference preseason poll in voting by the league's head coaches, the conference announced Wednesday (Oct. 13). The Owls, under third-year coach Sophomore Houston, which garnered eight first-place votes and 98 points, has been selected as the preseason favorite to win the 2021-22 American Athletic Conference. Memphis, which tallied three first-place votes, is picked to finish second with 92 points. SMU was third with 77 points, followed closely by Wichita State (76), UCF (66), Cincinnati (52), Tulsa (43), Temple (37), USF (25), Tulane (25) and East Carolina (14). Wichita State's Tyson Etienne was selected as the Preseason Player of the Year, while Memphis freshman Jalen Duren was picked as the Preseason Rookie of the Year. Story Links BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The 33rd season of Patriot League men’s basketball tips off on Monday night with nine of the League’s 10 teams in action. The 10 League programs will combine to play 24 games through Sunday. Defending champion and preseason favorite Colgate will open at Buffalo with coverage on ESPN+ beginning at 7 p.m. Four more League teams will open the season on Monday night on ESPN+, with Holy Cross hosting Siena (7 p.m.), Bucknell welcoming Lebanon Valley (7 p.m.), Boston University taking on crosstown rival Northeastern (7 p.m.) and Army West Point meeting Keystone College (7:30 p.m.) Loyola Maryland will open the night’s action when they tip off at DePaul with a 6:45 start on FS1. Story Links PHILADELPHIA – Houston and Memphis have been selected as the preseason favorites to win the 2019-20 American Athletic Conference men’s basketball title in voting by the league’s head coaches, the conference announced Tuesday. In a first for The American, two teams tied with the most points in the preseason poll, as both the Cougars and Tigers finished with 113 points. Houston received seven first-place votes, while Memphis garnered four first-place votes. The 2019 American tournament champion Cincinnati Bearcats were selected third with 94 points and the remaining first-place vote, while Wichita State was fourth with 88 points. USF was picked fifth with 79 points, followed by UConn (75 points), Temple (72), SMU (47), UCF (40), Tulsa (36), ECU (20) and Tulane (15). Cincinnati senior Jarron Cumberland was named the league’s Preseason Player of the Year and Memphis freshman James Wiseman was unanimously picked as The American’s Preseason Rookie of the Year. Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll & All

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Buffalo has been selected to win the MAC regular season and tournament title in the 2021-22 Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll. The Bulls received a total of 11 first place votes to win the regular season championship, while grabbing eight votes to win the Tournament title. Ten of the league's top men's basketball players were also selected to the Preseason All-MAC first and second teams as announced by the league office. Buffalo returns the majority of the team from last year that finished 16-9, making an appearance in the Mid-American Conference Championship game and earning an at-large bid into the National Invitation Tournament. 11 players on the Buffalo roster were on last year's squad, including second-team All-MAC selections Jeenathan Williams and Josh Mballa. This year's squad features nine seniors, making the team one of the most veteran squads in the nation.
