THANE: Political circles are abuzz following chief minister Eknath Shinde's recent veiled statement on his mentor Anand Dighe and the circumstances leading to his death. Dighe loyalists and his nephew Kedar Dighe have sought a clarification on the statement. Dighe had met with a road accident and died in hospital in 2001. Shinde, while speaking to his supporters during his Malegaon tour last week, had hinted of knowing some little-known facts about the late Shiv Sena leader which, if revealed, could cause tremors in the political circles. Asking Shinde why he had kept silent till now, Kedar, Shiv Sena's newly anointed Thane district president, said: "What was the reason that Shinde remained mum for so many years and now chose to drop hints about what happened in 2001. He should elaborate on this issue at the earliest." Mahesh Kadam, a Dighe loyalist and MNS functionary, posted a banner outside Thane's Chandanwadi area seeking clarity from the CM about his statement. "After listening to his speech, it seems Shinde is aware of a few facts about Dighesaheb's accident.
