Women and Child Development Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam said, “In 2017, the Delhi government had increased the salary of Anganwadi workers from Rs 5,000 to Rs 9,678 and that of Anganwadi helpers from Rs 2,500 to Rs 4,839 – keeping the semi-skilled work and working hours in mind. Keeping in view of the rising inflation, and the recent strike, the city government has taken the decision to once again increase the honorarium of Anganwadi workers and helpers in Delhi. However, it has been further increased to Rs 12,720 and Rs 6,810, respectively. The minister said, “An Anganwadi worker will be given an honorarium of Rs 11,220 along with which she will be given conveyance/communication allowance of Rs 1,500. Hence a total of Rs 12,720 will be earned by each Anganwadi worker.” “Similarly, an honorarium of Rs 5,610 will be given to each Anganwadi helper along with which she will be given Rs 1,200 as conveyance/communication allowance,” the minister said. Morinda, January 4 In continuation with his announcements regarding the increase in the wages for contractual workers, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi declared an increase of Rs 1,400 in the monthly honorarium of anganwadi workers here today. Now, the anganwadi workers who were getting Rs 8,100 will receive Rs 9,500 per month. Workers at mini anganwadis will get Rs 1,000 more, taking their total honorarium to Rs 6,300. The helpers at angwanwadis will also get an increased honourarium of Rs 5,100 from Rs 4,000. There are nearly 53,000 workers in anganwadis across the state. Besides, anganwadi workers will be entitled to an annual increment of Rs 500 while the remaining two categories of workers will get an increment of Rs 250 from January 1, 2023. NEW DELHI: The Union minister of women and child development, Smriti Zubin Irani, in a written reply in Rajya Sabha today informed about the criteria for recruitment of Anganwadi workers. The ministry also informed that there is no proposal under consideration to increase the salary of Anganwadi workers. As per the eligibility criteria, the minimum prescribed qualification is matriculation and age limit is 18-35 years for engagement of Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) and Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs). The ministry said, “AWWs and AWHs, being honorary workers, are paid monthly honoraria as decided by the Government from time to time, which is uniform in all States/UTs. AWWs at main Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) are paid an honorarium of Rs 4,500 per month; AWWs at mini- AWCs Rs 3,500 per month and AWHs are paid Rs 2,250 per month.
