Anisole is widely used as a solvent for the synthesis of various organic compounds, anethole, nonylphenol isomer 4-(3',6'-dimethyl-3-heptyl)phenol, perfumes, insect pheromones and pharmaceuticals. It finds application in the preparation of inorganic complexes and materials such as tin-core/tin oxide nanoparticles. Literature References The rate of ortho-lithiation of anisole is accelerated dramatically in the presence of TMEDA, effective also in sub-stoichiometric amounts: Tetrahedron Lett., 35, 385 (1994). For discussion of the mechanism of ortho-lithiation, see: J. Org. Chem., 62, 3024 (1997). Although direct dilithiation with n-BuLi/TMEDA was unsuccessful, a sequence involving monolithiation, silylation and further lithiation at the 6-position gave the 2,6-disilyl derivative in 72% yield: J. Org. Chem., 49, 4657 (1984). Widely used as a carbocation scavenger in the deblocking of, e.g. N-Boc or N-Cbz (Z) peptides with acidic reagents. Addition of anisole removes t-butyl or benzyl cations from the reaction mixture; see, e.g.: J. Chem. Soc., Chem. Commun., 922 (1976); Chem. Pharm. Bull., 25, 2929 (1977); Chem. Ber., 101, 3649 (1968). Lee, W-S.; Kumar, A.; Wang, Z.; Bhan, A. Chemical Titration and Transient Kinetic Studies of Site Requirements in Mo2C-Catalyzed Vapor Phase Anisole Hydrodeoxygenation. We recommend that you prepare and use the solution on the same day. However, if the test schedule requires, the stock solutions can be prepared in advance, and the stock solution must be sealed and stored below -20℃. In general, the stock solution can be kept for several months. Before use, we recommend that you leave the vial at room temperature for at least an hour before opening it. About Packaging 1. The packaging of the product may be reversed during transportation, cause the high purity compounds to adhere to the neck or cap of the vial.Take the vail out of its packaging and shake gently until the compounds fall to the bottom of the vial. 2. For liquid products, please centrifuge at 500xg to gather the liquid to the bottom of the vial. 3. Try to avoid loss or contamination during the experiment. If 40 is presented with an electrophile like acrolein or methyl vinyl ketone, then cations 42a and 42b are obtained. Harman and his co-workers then found that 42a could react with an enolate ion to produce the tungsten complex 43. In another route, nucleophilic attack on the carbonyl groups in 42a-b triggered an intramolecular Michael addition, producing the oxahydrodecalin ligands 44a-d, 45 and 46. Even more elaborate reactions were used to prepare the novel, bicyclic ligand shown in 47. 18 Anisole is a reactive aromatic substrate and undergoes Friedel–Crafts acylations under a diverse range of conditions to give p-ketone ( 7) (the o-isomer is sometimes observed, e.g., ). Besides the standard reactions with carboxylic acids, acid chlorides, or anhydrides and a strong Lewis acid, many less active catalysts (e.g., AgClO 4, TiCl 4, AlBr 3) are effective. A host of mixed anhydrides and related species readily acylate aryl ethers under mild conditions . Furthermore, catalytic quantities of iron trichloride, iodine, zinc chloride and iron all promote acylations with acid chlorides and anhydrides, although usually at quite high temperatures . A number of novel catalytic systems allow for high yielding ketone synthesis using acid chlorides and anhydrides or carboxylic acids and their TMS derivatives under very mild conditions. Aryl ethers with a further alkyl substituent are generally acylated para to the alkoxy group or ortho if that position is blocked (( 8) and ( 9)). m-Alky...
