Another JD(S) MLA Sivalinge Gowda From Arsikere Constituency Resigns In Karnataka, Set To Join Congress Gowda submitted his resignation letter to speaker Vishweshwar Hegde in Shirasi with other party leaders present on the occasion. He resigned with over 300 of his supporters gathered in his support. Another Janata Dal (Secular) MLA K M Sivalinge Gowda resigned from his Arsikere constituency in Karnataka on Sunday to join the Congress party ahead of the state assembly polls to be held on May 10 this year, reported news agency ANI. Gowda submitted his resignation letter to speaker Vishweshwar Hegde in Shirasi with other party leaders present on the occasion. He resigned from JD(S) with over 300 of his supporters gathered outside the speaker's office. Notably, he had been maintaining some distance from the party for some time in the past. He is likely to be fielded as Arsikere constituency candidate in the upcoming polls on a Congress ticket. Meanwhile, he is not the only one from JD(S) to say goodbye to the party in the last few weeks. For instance, Janata Dal (Secular) MLA SR Srinivas alias Gubbi Srinivas on March 27 also resigned from the party and his post as a legislator in the Karnataka Assembly, PTI reported. Janata Dal (Secular) on Monday released its first list of 93 candidates for the Karnataka Assembly Elections. Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy will contest from Channapatna while his son Nikhil has got a ticket from Ramanagara as announced by his mother Anitha Kumaraswamy (incumbent MLA) on Friday. As expected, JD-S has given a ticket to GT Devegowda from Chamundeshwari, and his son Harish Gowda will contest from Hunsur. Senior party leaders have found a place in the first list released by the party and there are no major surprises as many incumbent MLAs will contest from their seats. Sa Ra Mahesh has got a ticket from KR Nagar and DC Thammanna from Maddur. In place of sacked JD-S MLAs from Gubbi and Kolar, JD-S has given tickets to Nagaraj and CMR Shrinath respectively. Earlier, this year, JD-S had sacked Gubbi MLA SR Srinivas and Kolar MLA Srinivas Gowda for allegedly cross-voting during the Rajya Sabha polls. Kumaraswamy has not announced candidates for constituencies where party leaders are likely to quit JD-S to join Congress. Arsikere JD(S) MLA K.M.Shivalinge Gowda has said he will remain in the JD(S) till his term as MLA ends in 2023 and decide the future move after consulting voters in the constituency. He spoke to journalists at Bageshpura in Arsikere taluk on Tuesday. Mr. Shivalinge Gowda has distanced himself from party activities recently. There were speculations that he would not obey the party’s whip during the Rajya Sabha elections. However, he voted as per the directions from the party. “I may have differences with former CM H.D.Kumaraswamy. But I have been elected on the B-form of the JD(S). I will not go against the party until 2023. I will wait till then and take a decision after consulting the people of the constituency, who have elected me three times”, he said.
