CLAIM Many social media users paid tributes to martyrs of the 26/11 Mumbai Terror Attacks yesterday, the day that marked 11 years of the horrific attacks that happened on November 26, 2008. As many as 166 people died in the attack and over 300 were injured. In the counter-terror operations, many security officials were martyred. Tukaram Omble, ASI, Mumbai Police, was one among the brave officials involved in the operations. It was Omble who threw himself at terrorist Ajmal Kasab, while taking many bullets from Kasab's AK-47, and tackled him to the ground. Many social media users who paid tributes to Omble, however, have been sharing a photo assuming the man seen in the photo is Omble. Of the many lives lost and the excessive damage, one story that brings back the spirit of sacrifice in many of us is the story of ASI Tukaram Omble. Without whom catching the lone terrorist alive, Ajmal Kasab would have been a far – fetched dream. Life in Mumbai was going on as usual. The day had just gotten over for office goers. The club goers and the party hoppers were enjoying at Taj Hotel. Many of the diners were enjoying a meal. Leopold Cafe was packed with people. All was fine until suddenly TV channels broke news that terrorists had struck in strategically critical areas like Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Marine Drive, Nariman House, Leopold Cafe, Oberoi and Taj Hotels. The 26/11 Mumbai terror attack that had left the whole country in a deep shock. Ajmal Kasab, a Pakistani-based terrorist, was the only terrorist to be caught alive. Mumbai Police's ASI Tukaram Ombale had to sacrifice his life to catch Kasab alive. Bravery of Shahid Tukaram Ombale will remember the coming generations. Tukaram Omble stopped the white Skoda of Ajmal Kasab and Ismail's car at Girgaon Chowpatty. Meanwhile, Ismail was killed in firing while Tukaram Omblee had caught Ajmal Kasab's AK 47. In the firing, Tukaram Omble was shot with several bullets. Tukaram and other policemen caught Ajmal Kasab alive. On the night on 26 November 2008,Tukaram Omble ensured the arrest of Mohammed Ajmal Kasab, the sole gunman involved in the terror strikes to be caught alive. Omble was an assistant sub-inspector, and a retired army man who had entered the Mumbai police. He was shot during the 2008 Mumbai attacks while fighting terrorists at Girgaum Chowpatty.
