Ather 450X Gen 3 review: range, price, features, performance

There are now over 40,000 Ather electric scooters on the road today. Every single one of them is a connected vehicle that is gathering all sorts of data on how they are being ridden and used. Ather says it now has over 218 million kilometres of ride data, and it has used all that information along with feedback from existing customers to make this – the 450X Gen 3. Now, you’re probably thinking that there’s something wrong here because these images seem to show the same Ather 450X that’s currently on sale. And you’d be right because this scooter looks pretty much identical to the current 450X, apart from a new set of mirrors and different tyres. Everything else, from the bodywork and even the paint schemes, is the same – there isn't even a badge telling you that this is the new Gen 3 model. Ather 450X Gen 3: battery Fortunately, there are a couple of significant upgrades lurking under the skin and one of them is exactly what Ather customers have been asking for – a bigger battery. The previous Ather 450X had a 2.9kWh battery but the new one is now up to 3.7kWh. That means that the Ather 450X can now offer a claimed real-world range of 105km against the previous 85km (in Eco mode). We’ll have to carry out a full review to confirm that number, but previous experience with the 450X is that Ather’s claims are realistic and that the scooter’s range indicator is incredibly accurate. Ather also says this battery will have a 25 percent longer life and a 20 percent improvement in t...

Ather 450X Gen 3 Design And Style The Ather 450X Gen 3 retains the iconic and instantly recognisable design and styling that the 450 range of scooters always carried. The new Gen 3 scooters too boast the same futuristic design language with the LED headlamp up front taking prominence in the front apron. The Scooer is slimmand slender as usual and the scooter still comes with the contrasting colours on a few highlighting elements. However, There are a couple of visual elements that set the Gen 3 apart from the previous generation scooters. The first visual differentiator comes in the form of the aliminum rear view mirror stalks that replace the fancier plastic unit from earlier. This is said to improve visibility and quality. In addition, the scooter now rides on wider tyres at the front and rear. The real upgrades to the Gen 3 450X come in the form of the new, larger battery pack. It is now powered by a 3.7kWh battery pack which is 0.8kWh higher than the older generation. The electric motor too has been tweaked to produce more power. It now produces 6.2kW in Warp mode while the new peak power rating stands at 5.4kW. However, the continuous power output remains the same at 3.3kW. The larger battery pack has resulted in an extended range on the new Gen 3 450X. The ARAI-certified range now stands at 146 kilometres which is a siginificant ju...

ATHER 450X Gen 3

I have been driving 4225 km so far. I am so excited to drive an electric scooter than an IC engine motorcycle now. It’s not only about the savings the scooter brings but also about the performance that it delivers. Today we are going to discuss the reason why I switched to electric, the electric vehicle experience, my likes and dislikes about the vehicle, and some expected additions that might have improved the user experience. Why have I bought an “Ather 450X” Electric scooter? A few months ago, I switched my job location, and my office is around 28 km away from my home. So, I have to travel around 28 km from home to the office every day. It would be 56 km of drive every day and a few kilometers on holidays. I used to travel by IC engine scooter that has a mileage of 40 km. My travel pattern is almost fixed. In technical terms, I follow the same driving cycle every working day. Roughly, I travel 1400 km a month and 16800 km a year. The total expense would be 45,360 Rs for fuel in a year. Then I thought of switching to an electric scooter. Ola and Ather were my two choices and I tried to contact both brands’ customer experience centers. I was not happy with Ola’s response to the online test ride booking request. Then I did a test ride of both scooters and decided to go for Ather 450X Gen 3 mainly for the following reasons. • Impressive technical specifications and battery warranty • Availability of service centers near my location • Positive feedback from my friend who has...

Unveiling the all new Ather 450X Gen 3

raghav.srinivasan: replacing my battery pack works out cheaper, Seeing some serious degradation? Because I haven’t tested mine in one charge for a while now but noticing that the battery is charging up ~ 40-45% in an hour as opposed to 30-35% in an hour earlier. Leads me to believe that there is definitely some noticeable degradation. abhishek.balaji: upgrades I’m looking forward to seeing where Ather was able to squeeze the extra 700 odd Wh when they were certain they can’t about 2 years back. And want to see if these rumours of Ather changing the dimensions of the 450X are true or not since they really wanted to stick to their current platform. But I wouldn’t be surprised if they kept the same motor and just run it harder like they did in the 450 to X transition.

Ather’s 450X Gen 3 Electric Scooter Gains Extra Power And Range

It’s safe to say that electric motorcycle and scooter manufacturers are frequently optimistic (to put it lightly) with their overall range estimates. We’ve seen everything from the LiveWire One to Cake’s Osa fall short of their reported mileage-per-charge figures. India’s Ather Energy takes a different approach to reporting range, helping set sensible expectations for its new 450X Gen 3 scooter. Ather’s 450X platform is equal parts performance and practicality, and a 25-percent larger 3.7 kWh battery enhances both. Riders can milk the power bank for its charge-dodging capabilities or switch into ‘Warp’ mode (Ather’s high-performance mode) for a thrilling experience. While the firm lists the Gen 3 Ather bases its TrueRange figures on “millions of kilometers of data on environmental conditions and rider behavior of the Ather owners”. In ideal conditions, the 450X can technically reach its ARAI-certified range, but most users will see results closer to the TrueRange estimate. Ather also claims that the battery’s new thermal management system maintains power regardless of terrain, temperature, or load. From steep inclines to commercial loads, the 450X provides the same performance and excitement without sacrificing overall range. With five ride modes (Warp, Sport, Ride, SmartEco, and Eco) users can change the e-scooter's personality on the fly, but the new ‘Smart EcoTM Mode’ enables users to preserve range while in the standard Ride mode. As the name suggests, Ather’s Warp mod...
