ISLAND Waterpark is the centerpiece of the newly-renovated Showboat Resort and it will open early this summer, according to officials. The 120,000 square-foot waterpark has more than a dozen slides, a 1,000 square-foot surf simulator and a 6,500 square-foot lazy river. All are designed to fit the park's exotic island theme. But it's not just for kids. There are five bars at ISLAND Waterpark, including a 40-foot-tall "Indoor Tree House" that can be booked for private parties, a swim-up bar and Paradise, a 10,000 square-foot space overlooking the waterpark and ocean. During the day, parents can use these areas to relax. Adult-only areas include Peloton bikes, manicure stations, VIP cabanas and more. At night, the waterpark turns into a nightlife venue, which developers say is the first of its kind at any waterpark. You can also find two other features that other indoor waterparks don't have -a more than 1,000-foot Coconut Coaster that takes guests on a ride suspended high above the waterpark and offers panoramic views of the ocean and boardwalk; and Riptide, a 300-foot zip line. ISLAND Waterpark has a retractable glass-paneled roof, so the park can be enjoyed during any season or weather.
