'Attack on Titan' Shares Eren's Most Heartbreaking Moment Yet

After spending the entirety of three episodes chained to the floor, Eren appears to reach the limits of his physical and emotional endurance this week. He begins to soften and give up as Rod Reiss explains the actions of his father, Grisha Jaeger. Reiss's words match up with the splintered memories rushing through Eren's head, and before long, he is siding with his own captor. Finally, Kenny Ackermann betrays Reiss. He seems to sense that the old patriarch is not telling Historia and Eren the full truth, so he climbs the steps and removes the gag from Eren's mouth. He also cut a slit along Eren's forehead, giving him the opportunity to transform into a Titan and break free if he wanted. Instead, the angry young hero gives an impassioned monologue. "It shouldn't have happened... Me. My dad too. If five years he hadn't done that here, your sister would have been able to do something, right?" Eren said, thinking of the Titan attack that makes up his bloody origin story. "But my dad stole the power of the Titans from its rightful place. Just how many died for that?" Eren listed the loved ones he had lost over the course of the series, feeling the full weight of the deaths that had occurred so that he could transform into a Titan. "I can never atone for it all. It shouldn't have happened. Those days of training. That dream beyond the walls. I.. shouldn't have happened," he declared. "So... At the least. Let it end at your hand," he said to Historia. "Eat me. Save Humanity. It's...

Attack On Titan Season 3 Episode 7 Review: Wish

As priorities in the series shift and more truth comes to light, various characters pivot into the spotlight. There are definitely stretches through the series where to an outsider it would appear that Levi, Mikasa, or even Annie or Ymir is the show’s protagonist. “Wish” keeps that fluidity in play and makes a strong case for why Historia Reiss could actually be Attack on Titan’s true protagonist. While this season has flirted with that idea since its premiere, this is the episode where Historia really gets to show what she brings to the table. If last week’s “ Levi’s squad truly gets creative with their ambush and they put to use barrels of gunpowder and smoke signal shells in inspired ways that allow them to get the advantage on Rod Reiss and his men. I’ve signaled out this bizarre crystalline Fortress of Solitude before, but now that it gets to be the backdrop for a battle it can truly shine. The gorgeous environment only looks better as Levi and company slice through the air and wrap around pillars with laser precision. It’s a brilliantly conceived attack that highlights just how adept Levi and Armin are as strategists. The team takes down Reiss’ 35 men with zero difficulty (well Hange takes a pretty bad spill). “Wish’s” aerial fight is amazing to behold, but it becomes even more memorable thanks to a unique hip hop-skewing soundtrack. Hiroyuki Sawano always does amazing work with the show’s music, but he goes above and beyond this week. It really works well here. The ...

'Attack on Titan' Reference in 'Puss in Boots: The Last Wish', Explained

When the outlaw Puss in Boots donned his hat and boots for another feat, the result was a brilliant display of vibrant, comic-like animation enveloping a thrilling adventure. Featuring diverting characters and witty writing, the movie was “cloaked” in familiar action sequences that strongly resonated with some anime fans who took it to social media to point out the similarities. According to them, the masterful combat scenes characteristic of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish strongly references Attack on Titan during the opening fight between Puss and the Sleeping Giant of Del Mar. The Last Wish blends multiple styles of animation to pay homage to old, traditional anime movies and series. Soon after the opening scene, where Puss in Boots pays homage to the people’s “favorite, fearless hero” – himself, of course – the Sleeping Giant of Del Mar awoke and headed towards the town. The fearless hero he is, Puss in Boots, was hurled into the air as the giant began sprinting in a very Armored Titan-like way. Similarly to the jaegers, Puss propelled himself from rooftop to rooftop and swung around the giant, running and jumping around his head to dodge attacks and ultimately bring the “titan” down. When it comes to art, one of the wondrous things is the event in which one artist inspires another. It enriches the ever-growing library of stories available to us in various forms of media, and this film does it almost perfectly. Here is why we think so! The action in Puss in Boots: how do...

As battle breaks out to prevent the ritual, Historia makes a shocking decision which leads to catastrophe. As battle breaks out to prevent the ritual, Historia makes a shocking decision which leads to catastrophe. As battle breaks out to prevent the ritual, Historia makes a shocking decision which leads to catastrophe. This series gets better and better. We get more pieces of the Reiss family, Kenny's true motives and the questions on the nature of divinity. What started off as a high action series has become a high brow though provoking anime. This will be a true classic original series standing well alongside FMA and Death Note. It's quite amazing how the series answers enough questions for the viewers but tantalisingly opens doors to new ones. I read an interview with the series creator who said that season 3 was a change in pace, it's rare to say this but this change was required to fill in the blanks what's amazing is it's kwpt the balance and suspense throughout. Keep it up!
