Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Altogether 290 teaching positions in the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) will be filled soon through ad-hoc appointments. In all, 45 “The management council of the university has given the go-ahead for appointment of teachers. It will be an ad-hoc arrangement as the state government has not yet given approval for the desired recruitment of teachers on a full-time basis,” university registrar Bhagwan Sakhale said. The Aurangabad civic body in Maharashtra sprang into action and caught four stray dogs before sterilising them after a former city mayor complained that his footwear was taken away by a canine from near the entrance of his house, an official said on Wednesday. The incident of footwear going missing occurred on Monday night at the house of former mayor Nandkumar Ghodele, who resides in Nakshatrawadi area of the city, he said. “On Monday, the compound gate of Ghodele’ house was left open. The same night, his shoes went missing from near the main door of the house and it later came to light that a stray dog had entered the premises and taken away the footwear,” the civic official said. The next day, a dog catching team of the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) was called in and an operation to catch the stray dogs was launched, he said. “The team trapped four stray dogs in the area where Ghodele resides. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: More than a dozen air conditioners, including a few fitted in the intensive care unit and casualty section, have been lying defunct at the Government Medical College and Hospital, causing inconvenience to patients as well as healthcare workers. Mohsin Ahmed, who is one of the civil society members of the governing panel at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), alleged that a lapse in security has led to the theft of some air conditioner (AC) machinery. “Besides the theft, some air conditioners are simply gathering dust to maintenance issues. This is gross negligence on the part of authorities. The patients and employees are made to suffer for no fault of theirs,” he said. Ahmed also raised questions about the security system at the GMCH. “The GMCH claims to have CCTV surveillance. However, air conditioner machinery still got stolen,” he said. When contacted, GMCH dean Dr Sanjay Rathod admitted that some of the air conditioners at the state-run facility were not working. “An inquiry committee will be constituted to investigate the AC theft. We will also lodge a police complaint based on the report of the inquiry panel,” he said. Rathod said maintenance of ACs at the GMCH has been also ordered. “We will be officially inspecting the condition of all air conditioners and quick action will be ordered for necessary repairs,” he said. Mob of 500 attack police in Aurangabad locality with renowned Ram Temple

A mob of more than 500 persons allegedly attacked policemen in Aurangabad in Maharashtra after some youth clashed among themselves, a senior official said on Thursday. The incident took place on Wednesday night in Kiradpura, which has a renowned Ram Temple where a huge crowd is expected as usual to celebrate Ram Navami during the day, he said. "We don't know who the people, numbering 500 to 600, involved in the attack were. It started after some youth clashed. A combing operation is underway to nab them," Police Commissioner Nikhil Gupta told PTI. "The mob incident went on for almost an hour. The Ram Temple is safe. Around six to seven vehicles were damaged. No arrest has been made so far," he added. In videos circulating on social media, local All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen Lok Sabha MP Imtiaz Jaleel, state Bharatiya Janata Party minister Atul Save and others can be seen making efforts to ensure peace. "The Ram Temple is safe. Police must nab those involved immediately," Jaleel said.
