It is also the longest Surah in the Qur’an with 286 ayat and encompassing 1/12 or 8.3% of the entire text. The surah covers a variety of topics and commandments from Allah (سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ) such as enjoining fasting during Ramadan. It also covers topics such as duties of a Muslim (v.177), ruling for retaliation (v.178-179), giving Sadaqah and ruling for war, wine, and orphans (v.214-242).
