He is survived by his wife, Molly; his daughter, Mary Elizabeth; his brother, Dr. Gotal Singh Bariana, of Vancouver, Ontario, Canada; and his sister, Mohinder Kaur Bains, who is currently living in England. He earned his dental degree at the University of Bombay in 1955 and served as Associate Professor in the Department of Oral Anatomy and Oral Pathology. He also served as Clinical Instructor of the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry at Government Dental College, University of Bombay. Dr. Singh earned his Ph.D. at the University of Rochester, N.Y. in anatomy and pathology. In 1971, Dr. Singh joined the faculty of Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry. As a professor of Oral Pathology at Medical College of Georgia, he was recognized by both his colleagues and students throughout his career. New Delhi: The Board of Directors of Mahanagar Gas Limited has approved the appointment of Baldev Singh (IAS) as Nominee Director (Additional) at its general meeting held on Thursday, said the PSU in a regulatory filing to the stock exchnages. "Singh is not related to any director on the Board of Company. He is not debarred from holding the office of Director by virtue of any Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) order or any other such authority," the company added. Singh is a 1989 batch Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer of Maharashtra cadre. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and an MBA with a specialisation in Finance and Marketing. He has done short-term training courses from the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), Netherlands, in Governance, Democratisation & Public Policy and in Domestic Funding of Foreign Training (DFFT) from Berkeley (UCB), California. He has been recently appointed as the Additional Chief Secretary (Industries), Industry, Energy and Labour Department. Prior to this, he held the post of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Maharashtra. Singh was born on July 11, 1902, in the village of Dhummna in Ropar district of erstwhile Punjab province. His father, Sir Indra Singh, was a contractor who became a steel magnate in Jamshedpur. Baldev Singh studied in Ambala and at Khalsa College, Amritsar. After graduation, Singh started working in his father's steel factory in Jamshedpur. However, by mid-1930's Singh returned to Punjab and joined the Akali Party, accepting prominent Sikh leader Tara Singh as his life-long mentor. In 1937, Baldev Singh contested and won the Punjab Provincial Assembly elections from the Ambala Northwest constituency. In 1942 Provincial elections, Singh played a crucial role in the formation of the coalition government between the Akali Party and the Union Muslim League. He served as the development minister of Punjab from 1942 to 1946.
