Rules and Regulations For UG courses Students may take admission to 1st Year classes of the under graduate courses after qualifying the Higher Secondary or Equivalent examination with stipulated criteria set up by the College Admission Committee. A merit list for each subject is prepared strictly on the basis of Total Score Point. Total Score Point (TSP) is generally calculated as : TSP = Best four scores obtained by a student in his/ her 10+2 level exam + the marks of the subject in 10+2 level he/she opts as Honours. Admission is conducted strictly on the basis of Merit List. No quota except for SC, ST, OBC and PH. For PG Bengali Course For the application in this course a student must pass the 10+2+3 system with Bengali Honours in his/her graduation. The final merit list is prepared strictly on the basis of merit. No quota except for SC, ST, OBC and PH. The College Library is the storehouse of knowledge and now we call it an “Information Centre” also. The main objective of the Library is to fulfill the needs and demands of our Students/ Teachers/ Staff at minimum time. It is the chief goal and supreme business of the college library to give momentum to the stalled current of knowledge lying as the eternal lump of life. The College library also helps to increase the knowledge of our users and to assist the students to be successful in their higher studies. •

There is no digital classroom. Many of the washrooms are in worst condition . The canteen is closed from one year . The classrooms are large and the sitting arrangement is quite good . The laboratories are well equipped and maintained every month. This college don't provide any WiFi networks. The library is overall good. There is a big ground for sports purpose . Department of English About the Department "The function of Education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically." These words of Martin Luther king Jr. sum up what the Department of English, Basirhat College, is striving to achieve: enabling young minds to soar high with the wings of knowledge. The journey that began in the year 1957 is moving forward with increasing strength and vigour. Along with traditional genres of English literature we make our students aware of the latest developments in the field of literature. This happens because the faculty members themselves are experts in diverse fields of literature and language. Furthermore, this department doesn't only aim to teach the students, it sincerely provides a constant support to each one of them. Faculties Sangeeta Mondal, Assistant Professor, M.A., B.Ed. She joined in the department of English, Basirhat College, on 21.9.2006. She received both her B.A and M.A degrees from Calcutta University. From the same university she received her B.Ed degree as well. Her area of interest is Indian Writing in English. Her research interest is mainly focused upon a comparative study of plays of Mahesh Dattani and Girish Karnad. Sanjukta Bala,Assistant Professor, M. A. She joined Basirhat College on 21st April, 2010 as an Assistant professor in the department of English. She received both her B.A and M.A degrees from the University of Calcutta.
