BACKGROUND: Government of India (GoI) through Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) launched ‘Smart Cities Mission’ in the year 2015 with an objective to promote cities that provide core infrastructure and give a decent quality of life to its citizens, a clean and sustainable environment and application of smart solutions. The focus is on sustainable and inclusive development and the idea is to look at compact areas, create a replicable model which will act like a light house to other aspiring cities. The Smart Cities Mission is a bold, new initiative. It is meant to set examples that can be replicated both within and outside the Smart City, catalyzing the creation of similar Smart Cities in various regions and parts of the country. Accordingly, the purpose of the Smart Cities Mission is to drive economic growth and improve the quality of life of people by enabling local area development and harnessing technology, especially technology that leads to smart outcomes. Area-based development will transform existing areas (retrofit and redevelop), including slums, into better planned ones, thereby improving livability of the whole City. New areas (greenfield) will be developed around cities in order to accommodate the expanding population in urban areas. भागलपुर के नगर आयुक्त प्रफुल्लचंद्र यादव ने बुधवार को व्हाट्सएप नंबर 6287671447 जारी किया, ताकि नगर निगम क्षेत्र के लोग अपनी समस्या या अन्य शिकायत भेज त्वरित समाधान करा सकें. प्रमंडलीय आयुक्त दया निधान पांडेय ने एक दिन पहले मंगलवार को नगर आयुक्त को नगर निगम क्षेत्र की आम जनता के लिए व्हाट्सएप नंबर जारी करने का निर्देश दिया था. सिटी मैनेजर रवींश चंद्र वर्मा ने बताया कि व्हाट्सअप्प पर शिकायत मिलने के बाद शिकायत को दूर की जायेगी. जनता की शिकायत को नगर निगम के रजिस्टर पर दर्ज किया जायेगा. चाहे सफाई की समस्या हो या अन्य कूड़े-कचरे व अन्य नगर निगम से संबंधित मूलभूत समस्या ही क्यों नहीं हो. समस्या की शिकायत मिलने के बाद ही संबंधित शाखा में प्रतिनियुक्त कर्मी को तुरंत उक्त शिकायत का समाधान करने का निर्देश दिया जायेगा. सिटी मैनेजर ने यह भी कहा कि नियमानुसार कार्रवाई की जायेगी, जैसा कि संभव है. प्रतिदिन संध्या में प्राप्त शिकायतों की समीक्षा की जायेगी. प्रमंडलीय आयुक्त व जिलाधिकारी को कार्रवाई प्रतिवेदन सौंपा जायेगा. इस व्हाट्सएप ग्रुप में सभी सफाईकर्मी, वार्ड प्रभारी, जोनल प्रभारी, स्वास्थ्य शाखा प्रभारी और सिटी मैनेजर को जोड़ा गया है.
