Bhediya REVIEW: Varun Dhawan gives a howling performance whilst Amar Kaushik's storytelling captivates you

[Advertisement] Bhediya Movie REVIEW: ‘Prakruti hai toh pragati hai’– Bhediya is backed by social message that Amar Kaushik wants to convey via this horror comedy. If you ask me to describe Bhediya in one word in this review, I would say Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon starrer is hilariously entertaining. Bhediya’s main concept is Man Vs Nature, making humans understand the significance and importance of nature. And Amar Kaushik does it so smartly that we are entertained and mesmerised at the same time. Bhediya’s runtime is 2 hours and 30 mins and trust me, not a single moment was dull or seemed a bit dragged. Bhediya is a horror comedy and fortunately, it is high on humour along with occasional jump scares. However, the transformation of Varun and the howling can surely give you all the chills and thrills. I like how Amar showcased the transformation scene with utmost intensity and accuracy. It only speaks the authenticity about the film rather than just making a werewolf for the sake of it. Amar not only highlighted the fact of how humans are turning into animals by destroying the mother nature but also ensured to capture the beautiful locations of Ziro that will just make you fall in love with the nature even if you’re not. When you have a good content in your hand, comedy just amplifies the entertainment quotient and that’s exactly what has happened to Bhediya. Varun Dhawan and Abhishek Banerjee are the showstoppers of the movie I feel. Varun’s howling performance while A...

Bhediya Movie Review

I am a huge movie buff and if you are a regular reader of this blog or follow me on social media, you know this. When the teaser of this movie Bhediya was released in 2021, I got so intrigued to watch it, mainly because of the plot. If you have like watching 80s and 90s movies, you might have heard of Rahul Roy’s Junoon where he turns into a tiger on a full moon night. After that, I had not heard any such movie in India. Although the plot of werewolves is not new to the world, but certainly the first experiment in Hindi movie industry. Bhediya starring Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon is a comedy horror/thriller movie released on 25 Nov 2022 in theatres in 2D and 3D. The plot is about a man named Bhaskar (Varun Dhawan) who gets bitten by a mysterious wolf in the jungles of Arunachal Pradesh, turning him into a werewolf. Bhediya Movie Review Bhediya Movie Review The movie begins with Bhaskar travelling to a small beautiful town Zero in Arunachal Pradesh for a highway project. He is here to convince the people and authorities of Zero that this highway will open doors of opportunities and growth for Ziro BUT they need to make it through the jungles by cutting it off. People feel offeneded because the jungle is their lifelines. The local help Panda (Deepak Dobiryal) tells them about a mysterious creature Vishanu who protects the jungles and kills anyone who tries to cut the jungles. But Bhaskar and his cousin Jana (Abhishek Banerjee) and friend from Ziro, Jomin (Paalin Kabak) don’...

Bhediya movie review: This Varun Dhawan

Bhediya movie cast: Varun Dhawan, Abhishek Banerjee, Paalin Kabak, Deepak Dobriyal, Kriti Sanon Bhediya movie director: Amar Kaushik Bhediya movie rating: 3 stars Humans turning into werewolves is such a familiar trope that the thought of seeing yet another version wasn’t making me jump: I’m happy to report that much of ‘ And very scenic at that: the film has been shot in Arunachal Pradesh, the gorgeous Northeast state which hasn’t yet been trampled upon by tourists. On a mission to build a road that cuts right through a lush forest, Bhaskar Sharma ( In fact, juvenalia reigns supreme pretty much throughout the film. Much of the humour takes the scatological route, finding its jollies in, literally, people sitting on the pot, excrement, and the sights and smells thereof. Janardan, performing the hero’s BFF/sidekick, clowns well, and so determined is he that we will laugh at his antics, that we succumb. Also read | Dhawan does a good job of aligning with the tone of the film — the horror is pretty much ‘naam-ke-vaaste’, comedy is what it is interested in—and gets several occasions for a detailed turnover, from human to werewolf, even if the creature swings between looking scarily real to one which is constructed-by-graphics. Back flexing, hair spouting, tail sprouting, teeth sharpening– the CGI guys are clearly having a good time. So is Dhawan, who puts his ability to not take himself seriously to use, and that works to the advantage of the film. Of course, the whole point o...

Bhediya Movie Review: Varun Dhawan

Bhediya Movie Review: Varun Dhawan-Kriti Sanon's Film Gets Its Furry Kicks From Competent VFX, Scene-Stealing Abhishek Banerjee and the Funniest Himesh Reshammiya Joke (LatestLY Exclusive) Bhediya is a horror-comedy directed by Amar Kaushik, written by Niren Bhatt and produced by Dinesh Vijan under his banner Maddock Films. The movie stars Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Deepak Dobriyal, Abhishek Banerjee, Paalin Kabak, Saurabh Shukla among others. Bhediya Movie Review: Amar Kaushik's Bhediya is mainstream Bollywood's respectable effort to at least attempt in being different. Bhediya may not be one of the industry's better horror-comedies, I can't even say it excels upon Kaushik's earlier horror-comedy Stree. Yet Bhediya leaves its furry mark, be it in its themes, the VFX and the amazing camaraderie of its lead cast, especially Varun Dhawan and Abhishek Banerjee, the latter being an absolute scene-stealer here. Bhediya may have its struggles, but it also works quite well for its genre. Bhediya: Natasha Dalal Photographed With Varun Dhawan at the Screening of His Film. Bhaskar (Varun Dhawan) is an ambitious young man with the gift of a silver tongue, working for a unscrupulous tycoon (Saurabh Shukla) who assigns him a costly highway project. The said project brings him and his daft cousin Janardhan (Abhishek Banerjee) to Arunachal Pradesh, where he rendezvous with his old friend Jomin (Paalin Kabak). With such a name for a North-East Indian character, does Bhediya resist making ...

Bhediya Review

Bhediya is an easy, entertaining, watch, applauds Sukanya Verma. We've come a long way since Amrish Puri and Rahul Roy's farcically feral transformation into predators in Jaani Dushman and Junoon. More than the horror, it's the unintended humour it gave rise to that enjoys a place of pride in our collective guilty pleasure. Decades later arrives Bhediya, a creature feature boasting of a lot more sophisticated technology yet self-aware enough to let loose the inherent B-movie characterising this genre. What comes off is an easy, entertaining, watch. Like his previous films, meaningful conversations cloaked in merriment dictate Director Amar Kaushik's vision. Where Stree's feminism and Bala's beauty standards elevated it above a comedy of zesty zingers, Bhediya's cautionary tale, penned by Niren Bhatt, juggles between serious and parody. Bhediya avoids political eye contact, a superficial nod to insurgency aside, but mildly acknowledges a disconnect between its own and the outside world with the arrival of Bhaskar, a dog-detesting, worldly-minded contractor (Varun Dhawan) from Delhi. Conditioned for capitalism, he peddles a proposal for building a highway that runs through the lush jungles of Ziro, a gorgeous town bursting with postcard frames of pine hills and paddy fields. While the young members of the community immediately lap up his 'nature nahi Netflix chahiye' pitch, the seniors hold their green belt sacrosanct. Wish Bhediya looked more into this internal conflict, es...
