Automated on-off valves Eccentric rotary plug valves Emergency shutdown valves Globe valves Capping valves Solenoid and air operated valves Knife gate valves Slurry knife gate valves Pinch valves Railroad valves Segment valves Application specific products Flow control manual Valve software Nelprof sizing and selection software Valve automation excellence Neles™ butterfly valves are designed to truly optimize the efficiency of process operations by offering best-in-class valve capacity. They provide long-lasting tightness and industry-leading valve reliability, certified to SIL 3. Our product range includes both metal and soft-seated and rubber-lined butterfly valves. Neles and Jamesbury butterfly valves are available with wafer style (no flanges), lugged (single flange) and double-flanged body types. This along with comparably short face-to-face dimension makes them versatile and cost-efficient solutions for a variety of on/off and control applications. Extreme tightness performance makes the butterfly valves optimal for tight Valmet butterfly valves deliver versatility and performance for severe service applications Nov 18, 2021 Their compact and lightweight design, availability in larger sizes and easy usability make our butterfly valves an attractive option for many industrial processes. Their versatility makes them suitable for a wide range of temperatures, pressures, industries, and applications. They can be used in either control, on-off or emergency shutdown servic...

Butterfly Valve

The butterfly valve was originally used where a tight closure was not absolutely necessary. However, over the years, these valves have been manufactured with fairly tight seals made of rubber or elastomeric materials that provide good shut off similar to other types of valves. Butterfly valves are used where space is limited. Unlike gate valves, butterfly valves can be used for throttling or regulating flow as well as in the full open and fully closed position. The pressure loss through a butterfly valve is small in comparison with the gate valve. The L/D ratio for this type of valve is approximately one-third of that of a gate valve. Butterfly valves are used in large and small sizes. They may be hand wheel–operated or operated using a wrench or gearing mechanism. A typical butterfly valve is shown in Figure 12.12. A butterfly valve like a ball valve is a type of valve that can be used to start and stop the fluid in a piping system. However, butterfly valves have the advantage of occupying less space and being lighter and cheaper than the corresponding ball valves of the same pressure class. Fig. 3.37 compares the face-to-face dimension values of both short and long pattern ball valves with butterfly valves between 4 and 20in. in size in pressure class 150, which is equal to a 20bar pressure nominal (PN). Butterfly valves are used widely in LNG plants instead of ball valves, especially in size ranges of 4in. and above. Butterfly valves smaller than 4in. are avoided since ...

It is often said that butterfly valves can be used to regulate the flow. However, we do not recommend doing this, as it can damage the valve disk and have a negative effect on the sealing properties. They are used in a wide variety of process media and industries especially in water supply, collection, and distribution, as well as pumping stations, and have a broad range of use cases especially in flow isolation. A couple of their key advantages over other valve families are their simple construction and compactness, resulting in the end products being of...
