Cameron Green Picks 'Best Side In IPL 2023'. It Isn't CSK Or MI

Cameron Green is finally justifying his Rs 17.5 crore billing just when Mumbai Indians needed him the most and is happy that his team after initial struggles is now a step away from the IPL summit clash. Having pummelled Lucknow Super Giants by 81 runs in the Eliminator, MI will face defending champions Gujarat Titans on Friday in the second Qualifier to decide Chennai Super Kings' opposition in Sunday's final. Green in fact said even skipper Rohit Sharma told newcomers in dressing room that the five-time champions are slow starters. "Obviously, all experience that he (Rohit) has got for India and in IPL, he kind of knows. I think MI never won the first game of IPL and he tries to mention that to us," Green told Star Sports after having scored 40 odd and effecting two run-outs in LSG innings. "We obviously had a slow kind of start but you want to obviously start peaking at this time of the year, you don't want to be playing good cricket and slowing down now but peaking at right time," the giant Australian, who has scored 262 runs and taken six wickets, said. For him, the easiest job in the world is to bat alongside Suryakumar Yadav. "I think it's probably the easiest job batting with him. You got to get him on strike, that's the plan. And if you get a loose ball, you hit it." Green believes that Gujarat Titans are the best side in the IPL so far and have all its bases covered. Listen to the "They have been best side all tournament, may be a bit of slip up against CSK but t...

Despite the fury, Cameron Green’s catch leaves no grounds for complaint

A s the second session wound onwards on the Soon it was much less bucolic, with a fair share of those fans shouting “Cheat!” at the Australian all-rounder Cameron Green. Others lined up to give him a gob-full as he climbed the stairs through the crowd at tea. Fielding in the gully, Green’s crime had been to throw out his hand for a low catch off Gill that the TV umpire, Richard Kettleborough, ruled fair. Read more We may as well get into the detail of Law 33, because the months to come will bring more low catches and the same feverish round of disagreements. They will centre on whether a ball touched the ground before a catch was taken and so whether a dismissal should stand. Let’s put an argument on the record. First, it is significant the old “soft signal” is gone. That meant a standing umpire unsure about a catch could indicate whether they thought it was likely to be out or not, before asking the TV umpire for evidence to overturn that call. These days we go straight to the TV umpire, who is fully responsible for the ruling. Low catches cause such discord because there is a gap between the way the laws are written and the way cricket is played and umpired. The text says that a batter is out if a ball is held as a fair catch “before it touches the ground”. A fair catch starts “when the ball first comes into contact with a fielder’s person and shall end when a fielder obtains complete control over both the ball and his/her own movement”. India’s Shubman Gill looks disgru...

WTC Final 2023: Was Shubman Gill out? Controversy erupts over Cameron Green's catch

Shubman Gill's wicket in the 2nd innings of the World Test Championship (WTC) Final has sparked a lot of debate and controversy as to whether Cameron Green had caught the ball fairly or if the ball had caressed the ground. On the first ball of the eighth over of India's run chase, bowled by Scott Boland, Gill edged one and the ball flew to the slip cordon, where Cameron Green was position as the third slip. Green dived low to his left and caught the ball with his left hand. The soft signal was out, but the on-field umpires sent the decision upstairs for the third umpire to take a look at whether the ball had touched the ground or if it was a clean catch by Green. The TV replays were inconclusive in proving whether the ball had touched the ground or if Green had managed to save the ball from touching the ground, but the third umpire decided that it was out, which has sparked a big online debate. The decision could well prove to be a significant one in the grand scheme of things as Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma had put on 41 runs in just seven overs and were on course to give India just the sort of start they needed in order to chase the target of 444. WTC Final: Five things we learnt as Cameron Green's wonder catch divides opinion

The World Test Championship final is reaching its final act, with Australia still in a strong position to claim the title for the first time. Australia and India have played each other a lot recently — this is the fifth Test they've shared this year — so there was doubtless going to be some heat in this match given how well the players know each other. We run our rule over the controversy and the other things you missed from The Oval overnight. Green's brilliant catch Right, let's get straight into it, the big controversy of the night. Cameron Green has India lost its next three wickets for 35 runs and were all out for 296. Cameron Green took a second blinding catch in the match. ( Getty Images: Ryan Pierse) That one, diving high to his right, was probably the best of his impressive career in the gully. Then he caught Shubman Gill on the stroke of tea. India were cruising at 0-41 at a run rate of 5.72. Gill was 18 at a run-a-ball. So Green did what Green does and completed another stunning grab, diving full stretch low to his left this time, somehow getting his fingers under the ball. Loading Twitter content At least, that's what third umpire Richard Kettleborough decided. The cacophony of booing that greeted the decision on the big screen, and the debate that ensued between Chris Gaffaney, Richard Illingworth and Rohit Sharma, suggests other decisions were prevalent in the stands. Footage appeared to show the ball fly downwards off Green's hand towards the ground, where i...
