Check Any VIN

So Helpful So Helpful Absolutely love this site. They are FREE, no hidden fees. It's been so nice especially when looking at buying a used car. It's been my go to website during the whole process. Works well, runs quickly, provides the information I need to make a smart buying decision. Also like the fact they bring in the Edmunds fair market value into the report as well. Saves me a lot of time. As good as carfax and FREE !!! As good as carfax and FREE !!! I've been looking to buy a couple used vehicles and have been purchasing carfax reports which are relatively expensive. I came across VehicleHistory.com after reading a US News & World article on how to research used vehicles. The reports are free by VIN number and they are as comprehensive as a carfax report. This site has saved me lots of money checking out used vehicles. Highly recommend it !

Check car by VIN & get the vehicle history

How we help you find the best car At CARFAX, we collect events from the lives of millions of used cars from 20 European countries, as well as the USA and Canada. We can then create a vehicle history for every car in our database and make it available to you. The information helps you to check sales data, avoid expensive follow-up costs and negotiate a fair purchase price.

Car Value Estimator

Trade-In Value is the price a dealer would offer for a consumer’s vehicle to apply toward the purchase of another car in the dealer's inventory. The trade-in value is more closely aligned with the auction wholesale value, meaning what the car would sell for at an auction to interested retailers. However, the dealer may offer more if the vehicle is a desirable inventory item. In this case, a dealer may make allowances in consideration of auction and transportation fees that would have been paid if the car were bought at an auction. Private Party Value is the price you could expect for a vehicle sales transaction between two consumers. Depending on demand and condition, this transaction price will be between the wholesale value and the retail value. Private party transactions are typically less than dealer sales because they do not provide the buyer any financing options, warranty, nor any recourse should there be any problems with the vehicle. All sales are considered final and as-is. Used-car shoppers tend to focus on their basic transportation needs and finding a budget-priced car. Because these shoppers aren't willing to pay extra for many upgrades, oftentimes optional equipment and packages added to a new car have little or no resale value when the car is traded in or sold privately. There's no such thing as exact pricing when it comes to a used car trade-in value. The exact appraisal amount will change based on local market conditions, the dealer's inventory, and their...

Vehicle History Reports

CARFAX Reports are available for vehicles manufactured since 1981, when the 17-character VIN was standardized. CARFAX has information about cars and light trucks, though some information for other vehicle types may be reported to CARFAX as well. CARFAX Reports are powered by the CARFAX database – believed to be the world’s largest vehicle history database – containing billions of records from more than 100,000 domestic and international sources. A CARFAX Vehicle History Report can be used by anyone who wants to check the history of a used car. You may use a CARFAX Report to check the history of a car you’re about to buy, or a car you own that you’d like to sell to a private party. Shoppers feel more confident buying a used car once they know its history.
