GodFather Review: Chiranjeevi delivers a charismatic performance in this worthy remake

The film, God Father directed by Mohan Raja featuring Chiranjeevi, Nayanthara, Satyadev Kancharana and Bollywood star Salman Khan in a cameo, proves to be a worthy remake. Chiranjeevi embodies the character of Brahma brilliantly and comes up with a charismatic performance. Engaging screenplay, exhilarating background score and neat camera work make this political drama a festive watch. It’s safe to say the boss is back! Story: The sudden demise of the celebrated leader PKR (Sarvadaman D. Banerjee) leaves the ruling party in a political crisis and shakes up the family. The party has to elect a leader, and more than one player is in contention. Everyone’s intentions are blurred, and loyalties are in question. Brahma (Chiranjeevi) is a game changer in this squabble. Who will succeed as the leader and become the CM? Review: The movie begins at an Interpol facility in France, where a high-ranking agent hands over a confidential case of an elusive mastermind Abram Qureshi aka AQ, to another agent who is taking up the case. Cut to India, PKR, the supreme leader of a political party, is no more, sending the whole state into a crisis, and a new leader must be elected. Ideally, Brahma, an intelligent and popular leader among the masses and the backbone of the deceased leader, should have been the successor but senior leader Narayana Varma (Murali Sharma) and PKR’s son-in-law Jaidev (Satyadev Kancharana) eye for the CM post. Sathyapriya (Nayanthara), the eldest daughter of PKR and wi...

Godfather Review: Chiranjeevi's Remake Is Quite Different From Lucifer

In addition to others, the movie features Chiranjeevi, Nayanthara, Satyadev Kancharana, Puri Jagannadh, and Salman Khan. The screenplay was written by director, Mohan Raja. The dialogues were written by Lakshmi Bhupal. The film's music is composed by Thaman, the editor is Marthand Venkatesh, and Nirav Shah is the cinematographer. Story And Performances Satya is a stoic, honourable woman who believes in the values that her father, PKR, a respected politician, left with her. However, values mean nothing to her husband, who lures her into believing that he is a noble partner. He roots himself into his father-in-law's political party and covets the Chief Minister seat that remains with PKR. He kills him off and clears the air around him, to get ready to take the CM seat for himself. There is a catch though, as Brahma, PKR's son, and Satya's half-brother, cares immensely for his sister, although she only has hatred and vengeance for him. A flashback explains that her mom's death is a result of an argument between her mom and dad, about Brahma. Although an accident, she remembers that her mom did not want Brahma in her house, and she inherits the spite in her. Jaya Dev, Satya's husband, with the help of a senior party member, Varma, tries to put Brahma out of the picture. However, Brahma enjoys a lot of respect and reverence from many party members. He is revealed to have supported PKR a lot during his rule and has influence that Jaya Dev didn't know about. Jaya Dev also betrays...

Venkatesh Related Links : Post the debacle of Acharya, Chiranjeevi has taken a safe route and has remade a Malayalam hit Lucifer. Titled Godfather, this film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is. Story: The film starts with the death of a state CM. This leaves the key post open and in line to take over as the CM are Jai(Satyadev) and Satya(Nayanthara) the son in law and daughter of the late CM. But in comes one more power house in the party, Brahma(Chiranjeevi) to stop all this from happening. The rest of the story is about the cat and mouse game of who becomes the CM of the state finally. Plus Points: Godfather is the official remake of the Malayalam hit Lucifer but director Mohan Raja has made good changes to suit the sensibilities of the Telugu audience. Mohan Raja has stayed true to the story and narrated the film in an engaging manner. The manner in which he has showcased Chiranjeevi is superb. All these years, we have seen Chiranjeevi in highly energetic roles but here in Godfather, he plays a mature politician and is very good. Chiranjeevi does not have many dialogues but he emotes superbly through his eyes. Though he does not...

GodFather actor Chiranjeevi: Remaking a film is more challenging than doing an original story

Ahead of GodFather’s release on October 5, the cast and crew held a press interaction in Hyderabad. Actors Chiranjeevi and Satyadev, director Mohan Raja, producers RB Choudary and NV Prasad attended the event. Here are excerpts from the Q&A session. What made you say yes to Lucifer’s remake? GodFather has political drama and family sentiments. The team conceived everything pretty well. Every story will have a soul, and we should be able to connect to it. If we can connect to that core, we can almost predict the future of the film. I never try to perform based on how a character (in the original film) performs. I will take the core from the (original) movie and look at it as a new subject to perform in new ways with the help of the director and technicians. The film’s director Mohan Raja, antagonist Satyadev, and dialogue writer Lakshmi Bhoopal are your fans. How was it working with them? It’s an opportunity given by God. I planned nothing. All of it happened organically. I also feel it’s a great advantage because they know how to showcase me on the screen. When we thought of having a big person, Salman Khan came to our minds. When we approached him for a character, he agreed to do it. He is a great star. Your dialogue from GodFather has gone viral. What kind of reactions are you expecting after the film’s release? We had no intension of making this film based on contemporary politics. The dialogues were written according to the flow of the story. Also Read | Your fandom re...
