7th Pay Commission constituted to revise salary of Karnataka govt employees

The 7th Pay Commission will be established to review the pay for state government employees, according to an announcement made on Wednesday by Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. The chairman of the commission to review the pay scale for state government employees has been named as Sudhakar Rao, a former chief secretary, he said.

Karnataka CM announces 17% salary hike for government employees as interim relief

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, on Wednesday, announced an interim salary hike of 17 per cent for government employees. The announcement comes after the Karnataka State Government Employees’ Association (KSGEA) , which has been demanding the release of the 7 th Pay Commission, declared an indefinite strike. After the announcement, Bommai said, “An order to this effect will be issued immediately.” Old pension scheme The government employees have also requested to implement the old pension scheme. “A committee headed by the Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) will be constituted to study and submit a report on the steps taken to implement the defined pension scheme in the states that have already implemented it,” said the CM. Karnataka’s new laws Ahead of the state budget, the Karnataka Assembly on Tuesday passed bills that proposed a hike of 50 per cent in salaries and other allowances for the chief minister, ministers, and legislators, along with the Speaker and Council Chairman. The new hike will come into effect from 1 April 2022. The Bills also propose to increase the salary once in five years automatically.
