The badminton competition at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will be held from 29 July to 8 August 2022. The 22 nd edition of the Commonwealth Games — only the third in England after London (1934) and Manchester (2002) – will begin on Thursday 28 July. A total of 19 sports events will be held over 11 days. Badminton, to be conducted at the NEC, will be held over 23 sessions, with three medal sessions. While the Commonwealth Games began in 1930, badminton debuted at Kingston (Jamaica) in 1966 and has been played at every Games since. Apart from the five individual events, there will also be a mixed team championships. England, Malaysia and India have dominated past events; England won the first nine mixed team championships (introduced in 1978), followed by Malaysia, which captured the next four. There were separate men’s and women’s team championships in 1998, with Malaysia (men) and England (women) emerging victorious. What is India's schedule for Commonwealth Games?

India are sending a 215-member contingent for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. The multi-sport event will take place from 28 July to 8 August, 2022. The 22nd edition of the Commonwealth Games will see many high-profile athletes attempting to bring laurels to their respective countries. Among the participant countries, India have been a strong performer. Some of the star athletes for India are javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, shuttlers PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen and sprinter Hima Das. India at Commonwealth Games 2022, August 1 schedule: Amit Panghal, men’s hockey and TT teams in action

Boxer Amit Panghal will fight his first bout at Amit Panghal, a silver-medallist at Gold Coast 2018, will begin his CWG 2022 campaign against Namri Berri of Vanuatu in the men’s flyweight round of 16. The badminton mixed team, meanwhile, will face a stiff challenge against Singapore, led by world champion Loh Kean Yew, in the semi-finals. India are the defending champions in the category and will begin as favourites. The men’s table tennis team, also defending champions, will be looking to make another final as they take on Nigeria, who have Aruna Quadri among their ranks. The men’s hockey team is scheduled to play its second pool match while gymnast Pranati Nayak will compete in the women’s vault final at Birmingham 2022.
