Triple jumpers Eldhose Paul and Abdulla Aboobacker created history with India’s first CWG 1-2 in athletics while Sandeep Kumar (10km race walk) and Annu Rani (javelin throw) won a bronze each. It was a successful day for boxing as well with world champion Nikhat Zareen, Amit Panghal and Nitu Ghanghas all securing gold medals. Sagar Ahlawat collected a silver. The Indian women's cricket settled for a silver too while the women’s hockey team emerged on top in the shoot-out against New Zealand to win the bronze. He advanced to the men’s singles gold medal match, won the silver alongside G Sathiyan in the men’s doubles and created history with Sreeja Akula by winning the country’s first table tennis mixed doubles gold medal at the Commonwealth Games. G Sathiyan, however, failed to win his semi-final and will play for bronze tomorrow. Ace Indian squash pair of Saurav Ghosal and Dipika Pallikal Karthik successfully delivered bronze in mixed doubles.
