Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is extensively touring various regions of the state as part of the 'Mehangayi Rahat Camp', while BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Modi, have made multiple visits to Rajasthan in recent months, covering extensive ground. Addressing a gathering in Pratapgarh yesterday, CM Gehlot said that the Congress government is making continuous efforts in the direction of declaring Mangarh Dham as a national monument. Joshi who is also the Lok Sabha MP from Chittorgarh has replaced former state president Satish Poonia. The appointment is an attempt to reduce party infighting in the state unit during the election year and is a move to gain a special advantage in the Mewar region of Rajasthan. Joshi left Delhi on Monday with a large convoy of supporters to take charge and reached the Rajasthan BJP office around 2 pm. Joshi first offered prayers and then took charge from former president Satish Poonia. During this, Joshi also received blessings from sages and saints present for the event. Joshi, while addressing the party workers, instructed them that no slogans except for PM Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and Bharat Mata should be raised. He urged the workers, "if you want to see me survive, do not raise my slogan after today." "We will work as a team in Rajasthan. I am a worker of the party and will work with the guidance and support of senior leaders," he said while talking to reporters in Kotputli on the Delhi-Jaipur highway. JAIPUR: The saffron party, known for springing surprises during elections, has done it once again by changing the Rajasthan Bharatiya Janata Party president just eight months before elections. Chittorgarh Member of Parliament CP Joshi has been made the new state unit president in place of Satish Poonia who has completed his three-year tenure. Party leaders had been announcing that Poonia would continue to hold the responsibility of the state president till the assembly elections to be held later this year. The party officials announced the change in the morning. CP Joshi, who started his political career with the ABVP, is considered close to the Sangh. Satish Poonia also comes from an RSS background.
