IN AN unexpected move eight months before Rajasthan goes to polls, A Brahmin leader, Joshi’s politics, interestingly, began with National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) when he first became the vice president and then the president of his college’s student union in Chittorgarh between 1994 and 1996. Subsequently, he joined the ABVP and rose through the ranks, moving on to zila parishad membership and up-pradhan post in Bhadesar panchayat samiti, and to several posts in the Rajasthan Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Rajasthan before becoming its president. In the run-up to the Rajasthan assembly elections 2023, the verbal sparring between the ruling Congress and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has escalated. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is extensively touring various regions of the state as part of the 'Mehangayi Rahat Camp', while BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Modi, have made multiple visits to Rajasthan in recent months, covering extensive ground. Express News Service NEW DELHI: The central leadership of Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday appointed new state chief of party for Bihar, Rajashthan, Odisha and Delhi, respectively with immediate effect. Samarat Chaudhary has been appointed as Bihar BJP President. He is the member of Bihar legislative council from the BJP. He joined the BJP from RJD. Earlier, he had been the vice president of Bihar BJP in 2018. He had also been Minister of urban development and Housing Department in the state government. He is considered as an influential leader belonging to Kushwaha community which plays an important role in electoral politics of state. Express News Service JAIPUR: The newly appointed president of the BJP in Rajasthan, CP Joshi took over his responsibilities on Monday at a special function in the party headquarters in Jaipur. Joshi who is also the Lok Sabha MP from Chittorgarh has replaced former state president Satish Poonia. The appointment is an attempt to reduce party infighting in the state unit during the election year and is a move to gain a special advantage in the Mewar region of Rajasthan. Joshi left Delhi on Monday with a large convoy of supporters to take charge and reached the Rajasthan BJP office around 2 pm. Joshi first offered prayers and then took charge from former president Satish Poonia. During this, Joshi also received blessings from sages and saints present for the event. Joshi, while addressing the party workers, instructed them that no slogans except for PM Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and Bharat Mata should be raised. He urged the workers, "if you want to see me survive, do not raise my slogan after today." I am a worker of the party and will work with the guidance and support of senior leaders," he said while talking to reporters in Kotputli on the Delhi-Jaipur highway.
