Try contacting Phil Speight who's a member on here and runs the company with his wife I believe. His member address is Phil Speight Mark Thanks, I'll do that. I was hoping to buy online, I like to just click, pick and pay, bit lazy really. I bought Phil's starter kit online, now I can't remember where from, I'm a twit! Ta Ally p. Indeed yon Clevett will soon be able to sell our flat colour and related products on line . We have been reformulating some of the weaker colours ( with much success ) but we`re ready to set things up with Paul now . We`ll be doing somethng similar ourselves at some point - but not yet . If you want the decorative paints and you`re in the South Paul will be your best bet for decorative paint on line and Uxbridge Boat Centre for the core products ( coach enamel , undercoats etc ) "off the shelf". We still need stockists in the home counties ( if they are still so called ) so anyone with a shop ( an actual one rather than a " virtual" one ) who is more than ten miles away from either Uxbridge or Weybridge please give it a thought . The deal we`ve done witth Clevett is a one-off just for him -...

They're popular with the narrow boat fraternity I believe, there were plenty of tins for sale last time we visited a large-ish marina near here. Hints & Tips – Craftmaster Paints

It is essential to use the correct protective equipment at the appropriate times throughout the painting process. We recommend the following but you should satisfy yourself as to the overall equipment needed. Goggles: For protecting your eyes from dust and flying debris when preparing the surface for painting (be it sanding or grinding). Dust Masks: For when sanding and preparing the surface. Safety Gloves: For protecting your hands whilst using power tools (sanders, grinders etc.). Barrier Cream: To protect the hands whilst using paints and solvents. Chemical Masks should not be necessary if working in an open, well ventilated space. Dual Action Sander: For large areas of rubbing down. Be very careful not to remove too much paint by sanding or you could easily undo all the work of the last coat and greatly reduce film thickness. Detail Sander: For less accessible areas. Wire Brush / Cup Brush Attachment for Electric Drill: For removal of surface rust. Degreaser for Bare Steel: To remove any oily contamination, white spirit is ideal for this purpose rather than commercial panel wipes etc. Do not degrease between paint coats. Bare steel once degreased, must be allowed time to regain temperature lost as a result of solvent evaporation – steel can lose as much as 6 degrees during this process. Brushes: We only recommend the use of Purdy Monarch Elite paint brushes. They are by far the best available. In each painting operation, always use the biggest brush as manageable for a...

New for 2020 – The Restoration Blog – Craftmaster Paints

As many of you know the family that run Craftmaster are the proud owners of a number of Veteran and Vintage Vehicles, and as anyone who owns an old vehicle knows – they take a lot of upkeep.Previously we’ve tried to run a restoration blog on here focusing on the Scammell we’re working on, but we’ve sort of stopped with that for now as others things demand our attention. The plan is to post a monthly update on the work going on around Craftmaster, we’ll also include details of the suppliers we use, as many of them are excellent sources of parts and like us share an interest in keeping the past alive. For the February edition we’re going to take a look at work on the 1926 Morris Commercial Bus and our Austin Seven Special. We acquired the bus last year, but on an August jaunt to Cambridge one of the aluminum connecting rods snapped and made a bit of a mess of the engine. On dismantling we found a badly scored bore and that the white metal in both the con rods and main bearings was starting to crumble. The decision was taken to re-white metal all the bearings and attend to any other jobs that needed doing. The block went away for a sleeve (Meridian Engine Services, Barton, Cambs) and after a lot of debate we decided to send the engine to John Kirkby White Metalling in Croydon. Everything was returned to us on Friday and today has been spent flushing the engine, attacking the outside with a wire-wheel and finally applying the first of two coats of our Anti Corrosive Grey Primer....
