The development of the new strategy for Denmark’s development cooperation was launched in January 2021 by the Minister for Development Cooperation Mr. Flemming Møller Mortensen. After a thorough process with focus on public participation and dialogue with civil society, stakeholder organisations and interest groups, the strategy was adopted in June 2021. The strategy enjoys broad political support from seven political parties in the Danish Parliament along with the government. Two main tracks The strategy sets out the foundation for Denmark’s development cooperation from 2021 to 2025 and has two main priorities: • To create hope and help more people better where it is hardest. It is about preventing and fighting poverty and inequality, conflict and displacement, irregular migration and fragility. We will help more people better when disaster strikes and in regions neighbouring conflict zones and in fragile countries. • Lead the fight to stop climate change and restore balance to the planet. We will invest heavily in climate adaptation and strive to improve nature, the environment and biodiversity. We will strengthen resilience to climate change, with focus on poor and vulnerable countries and people.
