The last game perfectly summed up a disastrous season for Delhi as at 111/1 after 11 overs, the Capitals were crusing in a 198-run chase against the Sunrisers, but one wicket fell and everything came apart for the hosts. They fell short by 9 runs and now have to win six games in a row to have a chance of qualification.

Delhi Capitals (DC) owner dropped a major hint on Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly's future in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 with the Delhi-based franchise. DC had a disappointing run in the IPL 2023, as they won only five games after playing 14 league games and were placed at ninth position on the points table. The owner took to his official Twitter account, to confirm that Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly have already started their work for the IPL 2024 season and that they will stay with Delhi Capitals. He also said that the franchise is working hard to improve and get back to where they want them to be. In IPL 2023 season, the Delhi based franchise could not perform upto their mark as they finished at the ninth place on the IPL standings with 10 points after winning only five out of their 10 league games. They won their first game in their sixth game of the season against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). David Warner was the leading run scorer for DC in the 16th edition of the IPL. He scored 516 runs with a strike rate of 131.63 after taking part in all the 14 league games. In terms of bowling attack, the 31 year old Australian all rounder, Mitchell Marsh was the top wicket taker as he took 12 wickets in 9 matches.
