Delhi Crime 2 Review: Perceptive And Powerful Portrait Of City At War With Itself

The show opens with quadruple murders. Two elderly couples are bludgeoned to death in a South Delhi bungalow. Their battered bodies are discovered by the housemaid the next morning. DCP Vartika Chaturvedi and her team swing into action. What follows isn't a conventional whodunnit, but a painstaking and gripping grind interrupted by reverses and dead-ends. Although the principal components at play here are pretty much the same as before, Delhi Crime Season 2, a five-part crime drama that never loosens its grip on the audience, is decidedly different in textual essence, if not in tone and texture, from its The new season of the Netflix series, however, stays firmly in touch with the realistic mode that the seven episodes of the opening season employed in its pointed portrayal of crime and policing in India's national capital, a diverse urban expanse that has no more than 130-odd police personnel per 100,000 of the city's population. The first season's principal focus was on a blood-curdling crime that shook Delhi to the core. Here, the investigating cops - the same as the ones in Season 1 - are under the spotlight as they struggle to balance the professional and the personal, the general and the infinitesimal, in the line of duty. Taut and riveting, Delhi Crime S2 is a deep dive into the lives of the key members of the police team. It delves into the challenges that the cops must encounter and surmount both on the work front and at home as they probe a spate of gruesome murd...

Delhi Crime 2: Netflix extremely displeased; orders major reshoots; will we get season 2? Here's what we know [EXCLUSIVE]

Delhi Crime 2: Netflix apparently displeased; orders major reshoots; will we get season 2? Here's what we know [EXCLUSIVE] Netflix seems to not at all be pleased with whatever output they're receiving for Delhi Crime season 2 and have repeatedly been ordering for massive portions of the web series to be reshot, which is one of the major reasons behind the prolonged delay A well-placed source within the industry has exclusively apprised BollywoodLife that Netflix seems to not at all be pleased with whatever output they're receiving for Delhi Crime season 2 and have repeatedly been ordering for massive portions of the show to be reshot, which is one of the major reasons behind the prolonged delay besides the earlier impediments due to dual lockdowns emanating from the COVID-19 pandemic. Also Read - Apparently, this is the second such broad reshoot ordered by Netflix India for Delhi Crime 2 as the streaming service doesn't seem satisfied at all with what creative producer Rajesh Mapuskar and showrunner Tanuj Chopra are delivering. That being said, there's neither chatter of replacing them within Netflix circles despite the speculations from outside nor is there any talk of the series itself being scrapped as Netflix knows how much of a flagship show Delhi Crime is for it and the kind of prestige the first season had garnered, including winning India its first International Emmy Award ever. Also Read - The panic button must have also been pressed considering that Netflix hasn'...

‘Delhi Crime’ season 2: Revisiting the dark underbelly of Delhi

For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. Much like the first season, the second season has taken the internet by storm. In this season, the audience follows the journey of a seasoned investigation team who are trying to solve a murder mystery. However, unlike the first, a much bigger picture of Delhi and the developing world at large is painted. The performances of some of the veteran actors are simply brilliant, with their expressions capturing the pressure and mental fatigue their characters undergo. The moral dilemmas and thought processes are duly pointed out by their performances, giving the audience a window into the minds of these investigators. The cinematography is beautifully done, I particularly loved the use of dark palettes to convey the darkness within the city. Occasionally, handheld shots are used to show the intensity of the developing storyline. To top it off, a few deliberately long scenes helps convey the weight of the subject matter. The season begins with a series of gruesome murders of senior citizens, in some of the gated-communities of Delhi. The modus-operandi of the murders points to a gang that was active some 20 years back, leaving the police baffled. Unlike the first season, this one is not based on a true story, but rather uses a fictional one based around a real-life gang. Pressure mounts on the investigation team to close the case immediately. However, due to a lack of evidence, the police are left clueless. Ethical...

They are thrown back into the turmoil when a quadruple murder in a posh area of Delhi takes place. The MO of the murders suggests that it is the work of the infamous As the city falls into a panic when the news of the serial killer gang is revealed, the police officers, once again, find themselves in a very tricky situation. The public and the media hound them, while their superiors constantly breathe down their necks to solve the case by whatever means necessary. Meanwhile, the personal lives of the officers are also affected by this. To help them with the case, a retired police officer, who has an experience with tribal gangs, is brought on. But he turns out to be more trouble than it’s worth. Delhi Crime Season 2 Ending: How is Karishma Caught? When the cops arrive at the first crime scene, they take one good look at it and decipher that this is the pattern of the notorious criminal gang which has been operating in the county for decades. All the signs point toward the fact that the serial killer/robbers are back. However, Vartika’s gut tells her that something is off about the crimes. At times, it looks like the culprits are young and reckless, but they also prove to be in co...
