Delhi Police has launched an e-FIR app where people will be able to instantly lodge complaints for 'house theft' and 'burglary'. This will help police to quickly solve such cases. Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana said that the immediate online lodging of the FIR for the stolen property in Delhi through web facilities will help investigation officers to dispose of cases in a timely manner and hence reduce pendency of cases at police stations and courts. With the Delhi Police e-FIR app, people can register FIRs and receive a copy of the same instantly without physically going to a police station. Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Devesh Chandra Srivastva said, “These transformations -- hassle-free registration and speedy investigation and systematic documentation -- have made the life of citizens simpler". Once the complaint will be registered on the app, an FIR will be lodged at an e-police station established under the Crime Branch and has jurisdiction all over Delhi. Also, a copy of digitally signed FIR will be immediately sent to the email-id of the complainant, area SHO, senior officers, designated court, police said. The app will also guide concerned investigating officers to complete investigation and documentation along with management Information system (MIS) for analysis and to take preventive measures. The FIR should contain information related to the incident, it should contain information such as date, time and location of the occurrence. The names of the accused involved in the alleged crime should also be included in the FIR. The names of witnesses can also be given to the police that might help them in probing the matter. A complaint can be filed through the police helpline number (100 in Delhi) and an FIR can be lodged as the call is recorded and serves as an authentic way of reporting the crime. A copy of the FIR will be provided by the police and the investigations will be initiated once it has been read carefully and signed by the victim.
