Dhanbad Fire Accident News: Dhanbad apartment fire kills 14, injures several others

DHANBAD: At least 14 people, including women and children, were killed and several others injured in a deadly fire that broke out in a multi-storey building in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad on Tuesday evening. The blaze erupted at 6pm at Ashirwad Tower in Dhanbad's Joraphatak area, around 160km from state capital Ranchi. “14 people died and 12 others were injured in the fire. Several people were in the apartment to attend a marriage function. The cause of the fire is yet to be known. We are focusing on rescue. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital,” Dhanbad SSP Sanjiv Kumar said. “District officials have completed the rescue and search operation at the building. No one remains trapped and 14 injured people are being treated and they are in stable condition. The portion of the building damaged by fire has been cleared,” the deputy commissioner Dhanbad deputy commissioner Sandeep Singh, who is monitoring the operation on the spot along with senior police officers, told PTI that the exact number of people who died and suffered injuries is yet to be ascertained. "Several people are reportedly trapped ," a senior police officer said. Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren expressed grief over the loss of lives due to the fire.

Dhanbad: At least 14 people, including women and children, were charred to death and several others injured, after a major fire broke out in a multi-storey building in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district on Tuesday evening, officials said. The blaze erupted at 6 pm on the second floor of Ashirwad Tower in Dhanbad's Joraphatak area, around 160 km from state capital Ranchi, they said. Around 40 fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames, the officials said. The death toll is 14 at present and 11 people are under treatment. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh told PTI. The fatalities include 10 women and three children, a senior police officer said. Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Singh is monitoring the rescue operation on the spot along with senior police officers. Chief Minister Hemant Soren said the district administration is working on an emergency basis and the injured are being treated. "The death of people due to the fire in Dhanbad is extremely heart-wrenching. The district administration is working on a war footing and treatment is being provided to the injured. I am personally monitoring it," Soren said in a tweet. Meanwhile, former chief minister Babulal Marandi, in a tweet, claimed that at least 50 people are still trapped in the apartment.

Jharkhand: Five killed in fire accident at residential complex of Dhanbad hospital

A fire broke out at the residential complex of a hospital in Dhanbad. Five people have reportedly died in the fire, confirmed the Dhanbad DSP Arvind Kumar Binha. As per media reports, the fire broke out at late night on January 27. The deceased has been identified as Dr Vikas Hazra and his wife Dr Prema Hazra and other employees of the hospital. The fire erupted on the 2nd floor of the building due to a short circuit, suggest reports. Two fire engines reached the spot and rescued a total of nine people from both sides of the hospital. The rescued residents have been taken to the Pataliputra nursing home for treatment. News agency ANI took to Twitter and wrote, "So far it has been confirmed that 5 people - the doctor, his wife, their nephew, another relative & their domestic help, died in the fire," says Dhanbad DSP (Law & Order) Arvind Kumar Binha.
