Diaphragm valve

Diaphragm valves (or membrane valves) consists of a Categories [ ] There are two main categories of diaphragm valves: one type seals over a " Diaphragm valves can be manual or automated. Automated diaphragm valves may use pneumatic, hydraulic or electric actuators along with accessories such as solenoid valves, limit switches and positioners. In addition to the well known, two way shut off or throttling diaphragm valve, other types include: Three way zero deadleg valve, Valve body [ ] Many diaphragm valve body dimensions follow the Manufacturers Standardization Society MSS SP-88 Actuators [ ] Diaphragm valves can be controlled by various types of Body materials [ ] • Unlined or Rubber Lined Type: • NR/ • NBR/Nitrile/Buna-N • • • • SI/ • • Fluorine Plastic Type: • FEP, with EPDM backing • PTFE, with EPDM backing • PFA, with EPDM backing Applications [ ] Diaphragm Valves are ideally suited for: • Corrosive applications, where the body and diaphragm materials can be chosen for chemical compatibility. (E.G. Acids, Bases etc.) • Abrasive applications, where the body lining can be designed to withstand abrasion and the diaphragm can be easily replaced once worn out • Solids entrained liquids, since the diaphragm can seal around any entrained solids and provide positive seal • Slurries, since the diaphragm can seal around entrained solids and provide positive seal Markets [ ] Diaphragm valves have many applications in the following markets:

Use the As a result of different diaphragm materials and due to the surface quality of the valve body being maintained down to 0.25 µm, GEMÜ valves can be used in numerous sterile applications. The GEMÜ sealing system ensures that there is hermetic separation between medium and actuator. Single-use diaphragm valves comprise a stainless steel actuator and a gamma-sterilizable diaphragm valve body. The PP body with TPE diaphragm fulfils the purity requirements of the pharmaceutical industry as per USP 85 and USP 788. GEMÜ metal diaphragm valves are available in a weir-type version and in a full bore version and, because they are insensitive to particulate media, they are suitable for numerous industria...

In the pure world of hygienic, diaphragm valves are essential for safe and reliable production. In order to ensure sterile and non-contaminated products it is important to rely on high quality diaphragm valves designed according to your use case. That is why Bürkert offers a broad range of diaphragm valve solutions ( Increased diaphragm lifetimes and less energy consumption Bürkert diaphragm valves support you achieving your economic targets. Due to optimized geometries in our forged bodies the flow coefficient is up to 35% higher than the industry average (see Kv values in illustration). This leads to less pressure needed to push liquids through the valves and to an increased diaphragm lifetime. Furthermore, it makes smaller pumps with less energy consumption sufficient. So increase your flow with Bürkert’s diaphragm and save operation costs.

Diaphragm Valves

What is a Diaphragm Valve Diaphragm Valve is glandless valve that consist of a valve body, a flexible elastomeric diaphragm, and a seat (Weir/Saddle) upon which the diaphragm closes the valve. Diaphragm Valve is designed for leak-proof control of abrasive and corrosive liquids, suspensions, slurries, and pulps. In addition, diaphragm valves provide an external seal, therefore all moving parts are fully isolated from the wetted parts and the media being conveyed. These valves are ideal for applications that require tight shut-off, accurate closure and is effective in gas, liquid, suspended solids and slurry applications. Diaphragm valve is also ideal for acidic, corrosive and abrasive applications with the proper materials and linings. Diaphragm valves are typically available in two configurations, straight-thru Valve and weir type. Straight-Thru Diaphragm Valve This type of diaphragm valve is also often referred to as full bore diaphragm valve. In this design, the diaphragm seals over a seat. Due to their unique design, these valves provide full flow capability with minimum pressure drop. These valves are typically applied for on-off service. Tru-Tech’s straight-thru diaphragm valve is available in two configurations, namely Tru-Flow compatible with MSS-SP88 and Maxi-Flow compatible with ANSI B16.10. • • Enhanced Weir Type In this type of diaphragm valve, the diaphragm seals against a Weir or Saddle. These valves are typically applied in throttling control applications. Th...

Introduction to Diaphragm Valves (PDF) – What Is Piping

Diaphragm valves are an essential part of many industrial processes, and are commonly used in applications where precise control over fluid flow is required. These valves consist of a flexible diaphragm that separates the valve body from the fluid being controlled and are available in a variety of materials, sizes, and configurations. In this article, we will discuss the basic principles of diaphragm valves, their construction and working, types and applications, advantages and disadvantages, and maintenance requirements. Construction and Working Diaphragm valves consist of a valve body, which houses a flexible diaphragm, and a bonnet, which secures the diaphragm to the valve body. The diaphragm is usually made of rubber, neoprene, or other elastomers, and is designed to be flexible enough to deform under pressure, allowing fluid to pass through the valve. When the valve is closed, the diaphragm seals the valve body, preventing fluid from passing through. The operation of a diaphragm valve is controlled by a mechanism that presses the diaphragm against the valve body, either opening or closing the valve. The most common type of mechanism used in diaphragm valves is the handwheel or actuator. The handwheel is connected to a stem, which is attached to the diaphragm, and when turned, moves the diaphragm up or down, opening or closing the valve. The actuator is a more complex mechanism that is controlled by an electrical signal or pneumatic pressure and is used in automated co...
