Delhi Govt. renames its Schools of Specialised Excellence after BR Ambedkar: Sisodia

The state naming authority has also approved renaming of the Government Boys Senior Secondary School (GBSSS) No-2 Adarsh Nagar after Olympian Ravi Dahiya and now, it will be called the 'Ravi Dahiya Bal Vidyalaya'. "The state naming authority has approved the naming of 16 parks under the DDA after several freedom fighters," Sisodia said. These parks will be named after freedom fighters like Asaf Ali, Avadh Behari, Master Amir Chand, Lala Hardayal, Colonel Gurbaksh Singh Dhillon, Gobind Behari Lal, General Shah Nawaz Khan, Satyawati, Colonel Prem Sehgal, Basant Kumar Biwas, Bhai Balmukund, Dr Sushila Nayyar, Hakim Ajmal Khan, Brij Krishna Chandiwala, Swami Shraddhanand and Deshbandhu CF Andrews, he said.

Delhi Education Minister inaugurates 37th School of specialised excellence in city

The new SoSE will provide specialised education in ‘humanities’. It has state-of-the-art spacious classrooms, labs, libraries, toilets, a multipurpose hall, and a lift. A total of 400 students will be enrolled in this magnificent school which will focus on experiential and industry-linked pedagogy to develop skills like research, critical thinking, and communication. With the inauguration, the number of SoSEs has now increased to 37 in Delhi. It is to be noted that in 2023-24, there would be Schools of Specialised Excellence in 37 buildings with nearly 10,000 students. Atishi said, “This School of Specialised Excellence of Rana Pratap Bagh will become one of the best schools in Delhi. The school with advanced facilities will ensure world-class quality education to children from all socio-economic backgrounds.” Model Town MLA Akhilesh Pati Tripathi and senior officials of the education department were also present during the inauguration. Atishi was welcomed by the NCC band of Delhi Government schools at the inauguration ceremony and she unveiled the plaque and took stock of the new classrooms, biology lab, and staff rooms built on the first floor and the magnificent library and multi-purpose hall built on the third floor. Delhi CM inaugurates school, hails contributions made by Manish Sisodia

The establishment of Dr B R Ambedkar Schools of Specialised Excellence to allow students of Classes 9 to 12 to focus on their chosen fields of study has been a success with 37 such schools receiving around 92,000 applications for admission this year, he said. The School of Specialized Excellence is a state-of-the-art facility that will be offering two specialisations — STEM and High End 21st Century skills from the academic session 2023-24, a statement issued from the Chief Minister’s Office said. “There are 37 such schools with 4,400 seats in Delhi as of now and we received around 92,000 applications for admission this year. Admission results of the first round of admission will be declared by next week and final admission will start from April 14,” said officials. The school has been built on a plot area of 8631 square metres and has a total of 127 equivalent classrooms, which comprise of 50 classrooms, 10 labs, 2 libraries, 1 multi-purpose hall, 15 staff rooms, 30 toilets, 6 staircases and 1 lift, they added. While applauding the school, Kejriwal said, “In terms of the facilities offered, this school will be better than private schools such as DPS, Goenka School, Modern School, among others. Dr B R Ambedkar Schools of Specialised Excellence are choice-based schools for Classes 9 to 12 that allow students to specialise in their chosen fields of study. NEW DELHI: Delhi government's Specialised School of Excellence will now be known as BR Ambedkar School of Specialised Excellence, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday. Kejriwal said this at an event to launch one such school on the occasion of Ambedkar's birth anniversary. "Baba Saheb Amdebkar gave maximum emphasis on education and what could be a better way of paying homage to him than naming best of our schools after him," Kejriwal said. The decision to rename the schools was taken by the government during a meeting of the state naming authority held on Tuesday.
