Agra: In a bid to step towards DVVNL is providing online billing facility in 21 district headquarters and 17 townships in which it is supplying electricity. But in large part of rural areas, electricity bills are paid in a traditional setup. Villages have to reach electricity substations for bill payment. DVVNL chief engineer (commercial) A Visakhapatnam-based firm has developed a new software for DVVNL to implement online billing system in a hassle-free manner. According to the chief engineer, the facility will begin within the first week of January 2017. DVVNL is first going to implement the new system in Agra, after which it will be extended to other districts. By March 2017, the entire area under DVVNL will have online billing facility. The generation of electricity bill will take place at consumer’s doorstep in rural areas. Employee will take reading from electricity meter and will feed it in a mobile phone application. The phone will remain connected to a mini-printer via Bluetooth. In a single click, electricity bill of a consumer will be generated.

I am Kapil Dwivedi and have an electricity connection on my mother’s name Shiv Bati and the account #[protected] Sushil Nagar P.A Mawai Road orai. We are in the area where Rural supply is there, but bill is given to us according to the urban slab. I contacted SDO orai but he said as the connection is for urban areas then we have to pay for urban area and no matter what supply is in our area is. Per SDO checking the area and providing the connection as per supply is not their responsibility and they can allot the connection without any area verification. Secondly, the connection was taken in 2019 and no-one came to check the bill for more than 2.5 Years and every month there was the bill on my registered Mobile Number which I used to pay regularly. After 2.5 years there was a fault on my Meter then a person from the electricity department came and they calculated the Units for 2 years and provided the bill, calculated based on 10 Rs./units which is incorrect because there is the slab for unit-wise and there is not fex 10rs per unit charge. If the duty had been executed by the Electricity department properly, then this issue would have not occurred.
