Charanjit Singh Teja Tribune News Service Ludhiana, January 3 Sukhbir Singh Virk, the Director of Sahyog Agriculture Mandikaran Nigam Limited, is not new to controversies. He was convicted in the infamous MBBS fraud in 2013 and is also facing other such cases. His recruitment firm recently came under lens for issuing an advertisement similar to that of a government undertaking and recruiting 95 Agriculture Field Officers. The advertisement offered 4,366 posts in the agriculture sector. Virk, a resident of Saravan Bodlan village of Muktsar district, used to run an institute named Global Education in Mohali that facilitated admission in medical colleges. In June 2013, he had taken Rs 52 lakh from a Ludhiana resident on the pretext of getting his son enrolled in an MD course at a medical college in Amritsar. Virk had claimed of getting his son into Guru Ramdas Medical Institute, Mehta Road. He demanded Rs 70 lakh. Virk allegedly took Rs 52 lakh from the victim at the college, but didn’t facilitate his admission in the college. A case was registered at Police Station Division “A” in Amritsar on June 1, 2013. The court of Additional Sessions Judge sentenced him to seven years of imprisonment under Sections 420,395, 471 and 120-B of IPC on November 15, 2013.
