FREE Printable Earth Day Craft and Writing Activity

Earth Day Craft and Writing Activity To celebrate Earth Day this year, I paired this super fun painting craft with the engaging writing prompt that says, “I can help the earth by: _______.” These marble painted “earths in space” were a huge hit with my kindergarteners! After all, who doesn’t love marble painting? How to Make the Earth Day Craft To begin the craft, you’ll need Place the circle template (included at the end of this post) FACE DOWN in the tray. This ensures that the students can see the circle to cut out once it dries. If you paint on top of the circle – they can’t see it (I did that for the first one on accident!). I also recommend taping down the paper to the tray so that it doesn’t slip around or lift up. RELATED RESOURCE: April Sight Words Games and Centers – Editable Put a few squirts of each color on top of the paper and about 4-5 marbles in the tray. Let the students roll away! Take the paper out of the tray and let it dry. By the next day, the students can easily cut out the circle (remember it is on the other side!). Glue the “earth” on a piece of Time to Write! We start with the writing part of this Earth Day activity by discussing as a whole group all of the ways we can help the earth. The kids love sharing their ideas! We write our responses on the whiteboard so everyone can see them. After we have talked about helping the earth the students get to write down their favorite choice on the Earth Day printable. When we are done writing, I glue the wr...

10 Earth Day Activities For Kindergarteners

Crafting a tree using simple waste materials present in our surroundings can help make children realize the importance of recycling. To perform this activity, you will need a toilet paper roll for each student of your class; this will act as the stem of the tree. You can ask the students to paint the stem of their tree using shades of brown paint. Then with the help of an old newspaper, each child can make the stems of his tree. The leaves can also be made using newspaper or chart paper or cardboard may also be used. However, you will have to help your little students in cutting out the leaves. Be careful while using scissors with children around you. After cutting the leaves and stems, everything needs to be glued in place. Later on, each of the students will paint his tree, and a beautiful craft will be ready. You can find more information about this activity at This exciting idea will require you to plan for a trip to someplace close to nature. On this earth day, you can take your students to a nearby park, riverside, or lake. Then, you can show them around and tell them about various things they spot. This can be a great recreational and educational activity. You can list down certain things and ask your little students to find them. Once a student finds something, you can talk about it. An example is an earthworm. If a student spots an earthworm in the park you have visited, you can ask him what he knows about it. Then you can tell all the students how this little cre...
