Eknath Sambhaji Shinde As Maharashtra's 20th and current Chief Minister, Eknath Sambhaji Shinde was born on 9 February 1964 and is the president of Shivsena. In the past, he served as the Minister for Urban Development and Public Works (Public Undertakings) in the Maharashtra government. He is currently a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. After a brief stint as Leader of the House in the Thane Municipal Corporation, Shinde entered the state Assembly in 2004 and was later appointed as Shiv Sena's Thane district chief. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday won the floor test in the state Assembly on the last day of the two-day special session of the House. In the 288-member House, 164 MLAs voted for the motion of confidence, while 99 voted against it. Three legislators abstained from voting, while Congress's Ashok Chavan and Vijay Wadettiwar were among those absent during the trust vote. Last month, Eknath Shinde launched a rebellion against the MVA government led by Uddhav Thackeray.
