Shiv Sainik Dies While Praying for Uddhav Thackeray's Health; Eknath Shinde Provides House to Deceased's Family

A staunch supporter of the Shiv Sena vowed to visit Tirupati Balaji on foot to pray for former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray’s health when he underwent spinal cord surgery in November 2021. Unfortunately, Sumant Ruikar, a Beed resident, died in Karnataka during his expedition. Sumant had started his journey for Tirupati along with his colleague Shridhar Jadhav. The two men used to walk 35 km every day to complete the journey of 1,100 km. Sumant’s health deteriorated during the course of the travel and he died on December 25, 2021, in Raichur, Karnataka. He was the sole breadwinner of the family. Upon learning of Sumant’s demise, the current Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde got in touch with his family via video conferencing and promised to build a house to support his kin. Sumant is survived by his wife, daughter, son and his father. Recently, Eknath Shinde fulfilled his promise and provided a two-storey house built at a cost of Rs 25 lakh to the Ruikar family. The house was built at Shinde’s personal expense. Sumant’s wife, Keerti Ruikar expressed her gratitude to Shinde and his personal assistant Bajirao Chavan for their help and demanded a job in order to earn a living. “Currently, I am working in an unaided organization, I request the Maharashtra government to provide a job for me," she said. Keerti also expressed disappointment that Uddhav Thackeray did not call even once to condole her husband’s death. “My husband had left for Tirupati on foot to pray for the long life...

‘They attacked my family, my two children died’: Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde breaks down in Assembly

The Maharashtra CM said in the Assembly, “They attacked my family...My father is alive, my mother died. I could not give much time to my parents. They would be asleep when I came and would go to work when I slept.” Eknath Shinde further said, “I could not give much time to my son Shrikant. My two children died - at the time, Anand Dighe consoled me. I used to think, what is there to live for? I will stay with my family.” Shinde revealed that Anand Dighe told him to wipe his tears away, and also those of others. Crediting Dighe for his win in the recent rebellion, the Maharashtra CM said, “He helped me recover and made me the leader of the Shiv Sena in the Assembly.” While Shinde’s oldest son is an MP in the Shiv Sena, his two younger children – an 11-year-old son and a 7-year-old daughter – died in a boating accident while visiting their native village in 2000. While speaking about the rebellion he staged with the majority of Shiv Sena MLAs, Eknath Shinde said that the fallout was necessary as he felt humiliated and insulted over an election result, and had to act. Shinde, during his speech, said, “I started getting calls and people started joining me. Uddhav Thackeray phoned me and asked me where I am going, I said I don't know. He asked me when I would return, I said I don't know...I decided that I was willing to sacrifice myself but I would act.” READ |‘Trying to finish Shiv Sena’: Uddhav Thackeray dares BJP to hold mid-term polls in Maharashtra

Our hands are not tied, says Eknath Shinde's MP son Shrikant Shinde on vandalism

THANE: Addressing a large crowd of more than 1,500 people for the first time since the rebellion by his father, After the incident, Shindes' supporters arrived and replaced the broken board outside the office with a new one. Meanwhile, police security had been deployed outside Shindes' Louise Wadi residence following Eknath Shinde's rebellion earlier last week. "My father reached out to the grassroots level for the party to grow," said Shrikant, who along with former Thane mayor Naresh Mhaske stood on a car and addressed a gathering. Shrikant lashed out at the Sena leadership and said grassroots Sainiks and Sena MLAs have suffered at the hands of the NCP. He alleged that NCP ministers put a spoke in the wheel of Sena MLAs. Sena leaders had to answer to citizens who complained that their work was not being attended to, despite the fact that the Sena was in power. Shrikant said he had pointed this out on several occasions to party leadership and the CM but in vain. Shrikant said at every stage and every emergency and even during the pandemic, his father never remained indoors but came out in the open and attended to citizens. "Our doors were open to everyone round-the-clock and we are here to serve you. I remember he went to meet a party worker who was seriously ill in hospital at Kalyan wearing a PPE kit. That time he did not think of himself." Meanwhile, former mayor of Thane Naresh Mhaske on Saturday resigned as the Shiv Sena district chief in support of Eknath Shinde. In...

Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde's son takes cue from Aaditya Thackeray, goes on a meeting spree

MUMBAI: As the Shiv Sena-BJP government with chief minister Eknath Shinde at the helm approaches its anniversary in the state, it has managed to attract just a handful of former Shiv Sena (UBT) corporators. The Shiv Sena has now deputed Shinde's son, MP Shrikant Shinde, to woo grassroots politicians and take on the Shiv Sena (UBT) in the city. Shrikant is replicating former minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) politician Aaditya Thackeray's model of weekly reviews of projects and schemes with top bureaucrats. On Tuesday, Shrikant met municipal commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal for the second time in a month. Shrikant has taken over Thackeray's Yuva Sena team of former corporators - Amey Ghole is one of them - and this team is now taking care of the back room operations for him. Shrikant had met officials of the Central Railway on Monday and taken up passenger issues with them. Shrikant launched the second phase of his Shakha Sampark Abhiyan in the Dadar-Prabhadevi area near Shiv Sena Bhavan on Tuesday. With the chief minister keeping the post after a recent Supreme Court verdict, the Shinde-led Shiv Sena is now looking to expand the party and win over the fence-sitters from the Shiv Sena (UBT) who are still undecided or have backed Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray. Last week, the Shrikant launched the Shakha Sampark Abhiyan across shakhas in the city. The initiative is seen as an outreach programme ahead of the BMC polls. Shiv Sena functionaries said Aaditya too had used the m...
