Fire Department

Welcome to the City of West Palm Beach Fire Rescue web site. Organized in 1894 as the “Flagler Alerts” we are one of the oldest professional fire departments in South Florida. The 230 employees of the City of West Palm Beach Fire Rescue Department respond to over 27,000 calls for service each year. We operate out of nine stations that cover over a 55-square-mile area. The operational personnel work a 48-hour workweek by rotating three 24-hour shifts, while the support staff works a standard 40-hour week. West Palm Beach Fire Rescue works to reduce the level of risk to life, property and the environment that the community faces through technology of Fire Suppression, Emergency Response, Emergency Medical Transportation, Fire Inspection, Public Education, and Community Outreach. There are nine (9) community Fire Stations throughout our City. Please feel free to stop by any of these stations whenever you are in the neighborhood. The Firefighters will be happy to take your blood pressure, talk to you about your medications, give you fire safety tips or they will gladly stop by your residence or your place of business to check on your smoke detectors!
