BANGALORE: India's largest online retailer The move comes at a time when the e-tailer, backed by Accel Partners and Tiger Global, is trying to prune its cash burn and improve margins even as it looks out for further funding. Flipkart, often compared with American online retail behemoth Flipkart has in the last few months expanded its portfolio at an aggressive pace adding 16 new categories such as baby care, beauty, health care, mobile phones, electronic products and toys as it veers away from its dependency on selling books. In fact, competitors, including Infibeam, Homeshop18, Indiatimes shopping and Flipkart, however, defended the move. "This impacts less than 15% of our customers. However, it gives us much larger efficiencies in our supply chain and we will be to pass on more benefits to our customers after this change. Building on its technology capabilities and supply chain infrastructure, Flipkart's hyperlocal delivery model will provide consumers with a handpicked assortment of more than 2,000 products in categories varying from groceries, dairy and meat products, mobiles, electronics accessories, stationery items and home accessories in the first phase. "With Flipkart Quick - our Hyperlocal capability, we have the potential to bring together the whole network of neighbourhood Kirana stores onto our platform with just a click," Sandeep Karwa, Vice-President, Flipkart, said om a statement. He said Flipkart Quick will adopt a latitude and longitude approach that will not only narrow down the location to be more precise but will also result in sharper delivery time. Moving away from the traditional model of using a pin-code system to identify the delivery location, which can span across a larger area, Flipkart Quick will use innovative and advanced technology for location mapping.

Indian E-commerce service Flipkart today launched its Flipkart Quick service in 6 Indian cities. The super-fast delivery service provides customers “safe and seamless access to order daily essentials through quick doorstep delivery”. The service currently allows users to only order COVID-related essentials, fresh fruits, vegetables, and other grocery items. Some mobiles and electronics may also be available. When the service launched in Bangalore last year, Flipkart mentioned that the service will use “advanced technology” for location mapping and will not rely on the traditional pin code system. Flipkart launches 90

E-commerce major Flipkart has launched a 90-minute hyperlocal delivery service Flipkart Quick in Bengaluru. Besides delivering grocery, dairy products and vegetables, the service will also ensure ordering of mobiles, electronics and home accessories. At present, Flipkart Quick covers select areas of Bengaluru such as Whitefield, Panathur, HSR Layout, BTM Layout, Banashankari, KR Puram and Indiranagar. The company is likely to expand to more cities in the coming months. Customers can choose to order in the next 90 minutes or book a 2-hour slot starting with a minimum delivery fee of Rs 29. Flipkart will leverage on-demand logistics service Shadowfax for the quick delivery service. The Walmart-controlled entity had invested $60 million in Shadowfax in December last year. With Flipkart Quick, the company is directly competing with Swiggy Stores, Google-backed Dunzo and BigBasket’s ‘Express Delivery’ service. According to an ET report, Flipkart also plans to move to a hybrid delivery model by leveraging Kirana stores and its logistics arm Ekart to fulfil orders. Flipkart Quick has come at a time when the online grocery space is going through an exciting phase because of JioMart.
