G4S Secure Solutions UK (SSUK) has been awarded two five-year contracts by the Government Property Agency (GPA) to carry out security and technology services for government buildings in London and the North. Under the deals, starting in October, G4S will deliver services to about 18 sites in London and 21 buildings in the North – including four in Scotland and one in Northern Ireland. It is likely that this portfolio will increase as part of the GPA’s ‘Places for Growth’ initiative. Services will encompass surveillance and alarm monitoring, visitor management (including access control), emergency response, keyholding patrol teams, car park management, voice announcement system operation, and, in certain cases, flag-flying duty. To enhance the integration of security and technology, data and analytics will be used to deploy security officers to higher-risk areas and record security incidents. Digital incident reports will be shared with the client. About 300 staff employed by the previous contractors will be able to transfer to G4S SSUK under the TUPE rules, subject to security clearance checks. Eddie Hirst, G4S SSUK’s business development director of major projects, said: “G4S SSUK has extensive experience in integrated security, particularly in meeting the requirements of customers across the country, including recognisable and sensitive sites. We are thrilled to contribute to the Government’s Levelling Up and Places for Growth agenda by preserving and creating additional...
