'Gadar 2' is set to release worldwide on August 11 Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s film Gadar 2: The Katha Continues first official teaser has been released. Sunny and Ameesha first appeared together in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha in 2001. After 22 years, the duo is returning to carry forward the story in 2023. Gadar is an action-packed period drama revolving around the character of Tara Singh, played by Sunny. The teaser of the upcoming sequel shows Tara returning to Pakistan to bring back his son, Charanjeet Singh. The plot of the film is set against the backdrop of Indo-Pak war in 1971. The historical film is directed by Anil Sharma, whereas Shaktimaan Talwar has written the script of the movie. Besides Sunny and Ameesha, the movie features Utkarsh Sharma in a key role. According to India Today, Sunny Deol once spoke about carrying forward the legacy of his most famous film. He said: “Gadar 2 carries forward the legacy of its iconic first part. It’s a blessing to be able to bring back one of India’s most loved family film.” “At its heart the film would always be an inspiring epic story of love, courage and patriotism. Hope the world welcomes Tara and Sakina again with open arms.” Gadar 2 is set to release worldwide on August 11.

Ahead of the release of Gadar 2, its prequel Gadar hit theatres once again on Friday (June 9). The film first released in 2001 and made box office history. Since then, the movie has gained a cult following for its songs and memorable dialogues. The remastered version of Gadar released in 4K resolution and Dolby Atmos audio format. According to Zee Studios, the sound of Gadar underwent a comprehensive restoration process for the re-release. The visual effects were meticulously incorporated to improve visual experience without detracting from the film's vintage feel. The final 4K version was assembled and produced using all of the original film videos, visual effect shots, sound, and background music. The estimated restoration expense of the film is around ₹2 crore. The restored version of Gadar also has extra scenes that weren't included in the movie when it first came out. On Friday, a limited number of venues will screen Gadar in its newly restored version. Depending on the recepton of the re-release, more shows will be added. Reacting to the re-release of Gadar, CEO of Zee Studios Shariq Patel said in a statement, " Gadar: Ek Prem Katha holds a special place in the hearts of Indian cinema lovers. The film, which was remastered in 4K with new VFX, was released weeks before the film’s sequel – Gadar 2 – hits the screens. And the first signs are good. Despite the extremely limited screen count, Gadar has managed to do well at the box office. As per reports, the remastering cost of Gadar Ek Prem Katha was around Rs 2 crore. Even after adding the nominal re-release costs, the opening weekend numbers indicate that the makers should turn a profit for the re-release. And anyway, the purpose of the re-release was to generate buzz for the sequel, which releases in theatres on August 11.
